Recently my daughter had her appendicitis operation from a reputed hospital and her biil was made as a cashless surgery by the health insurance company provided by her company. The statement i have made above may makes the person reading it as a simple and easy process. But only the person who has applied for the claim under the insurance company knows the delay and the complicated process involved in it. In spite of the operation being a simple one(it was a laproscopic surgery) the patient was made to stay in the hospital for more then two days just because they had not received the payment in full although they had got the necessary approval.
How many of you have availed such health insurance for your surgeries? Please share your experiences. How many of you have these health insurances? Are they customer friendly.

Personally Health issurance and making sure everything is approved before you have any surgeries, Tests, etc. is one of the roughest things I think out there. Many times when you think you know everything something changes on you and you sit and wonder how. Does sound like no matter what is happening, it is a Good thing for the Insurance and wishing your daughter the Best.

It is more of a good deal for the hospitals than the insurance company. The next time we avail the mediclaim we need to to do a good study about it and then go for it. Thanks for your response. Happy mylotting.

Hello bewitched,
How is your daughter now? I hope she must be recovered fully by now. It was sad situation when you stayed in hospital just because of the insurance company and their delay in payment.
We too have the health insurance policy. Once my hubby met with an accident and fractured his hip bone. But the service in this place by insurance company was good and they paid it quickly. Actually his friends helped us to talk to the officials and made the payment in time. The only problem was, hospital people charged highly than usual and their explanation was the insurance company is paying and they need to give some extra taxes etc. Anyway I didn’t care that thing and I was concerned about my hubby’s problem at that time.

Hi sreekala, Thanks for your response. Like you said the insurance company did not give much problem instead the hospitals authorities said that as it was a package and the patient need to stay for three days. Moreover their bill amount showed an amount and the charges they charged from the insurance company was four times the bill amount. They also charged an extra of ten percent taxes from us. This was a real looting. Happy mylotting.
