My friend is suffering from over weight. I have suggested him many methods to reduce weights. But due to his over work , he neglected all. Finally he said that jogging will be sufficient to reduce the weight.
Is he true ? Can jogging alone can reduce the overweight ?

Yes, jogging can actually help him lose weight but since you said he works a lot, he'll probably have no time for it soon enough and will be overweight once again. I suggest that he just stick with a diet program which will help him design his daily meal in such a way that the foods will work to help burn fats even without jogging everyday. You may suggest to him my website, the link is on my page. There, I have a lot of information about how eating can make you lose weight. He might find it useful. The diet plan there is specific for every person, not the usual catch all diets.

No, jogging alone will not reduce the weight, and he has to curtail his food.If possible one should go on a liquid diet till he reaches the weight he wants. If not atleast he start to do more exercises. I am very definite, that jogging alone will not reduce the weight.

Hi
The majority of people who want to lose weight quickly today still rely on long duration moderate paced aerobic exercise such as jogging, brisk walking as their primary routine to burn fat fast. But recent studies have shown that this is a big, I mean big mistake. In fact, you could say that the whole aerobics explosion of a few decades past was one of the biggest mistakes in the health and fitness industry. Why?
There are several reasons, but I'll focus on the two main issues here. When you exercise at a moderate pace for extended periods of time, say for example jogging in your friends case, your body is burning fat during the exercise. While this may sound good, it's actually bad news.
This sends a signal to your body to keep a certain amount of stored fat available for your next workout. You're essentially telling it that it needs fat available to burn, because you'll be doing this exercise again. So while we may be burning some calories during this exercise, after the exercise is over, our body begins storing up some fat for the next workout. Obviously not what we're looking for in terms of maximum ability to burn fat fast.
The other big concern with moderately paced aerobic exercise performed several times per week is that it trains your body (heart, lungs, muscles, etc.) to become efficient. Again, this may sound good, but what is actually happening is bad for long term health. You are working only within your existing aerobic limits, without improving your aerobic capacity.
This is important because your aerobic capacity is what determines how your body responds in times of physical, emotional, and mental stress. If you reduce your capacity for work, as you do in this type of exercise, you're reducing your long term health, no to mention a poor chance of burning fat and losing weight successfully.

Jogging is good if done routinely, he also needs to increase his metabolism by drinking lots of water in place of sodas or sugar juices. He needs to consistently eat daily at least three sensible meals.
Loosing weight is a life eating changing habit that one must change overall. Have him eat plenty of fruits and vegetables as well.

Jogging is always suggested for people who want to lose weight or to keep fit since running allow the body to work out all its muscles. My coach always made run 10 Kms a day so I can assure you that you burn lot of caloried doing that.
But of course, he also needs to follow a diet, or at least to eat healthy food; I'd suggest him above all vegetables since they can feed more than other foods.
Support your friend of this, or he'll be more likely to give up :)
