The dreaded group day...

This day is said to be the toughest in American Idol- the pressure and atittude of the contestants clashes... I just watched it a while ago, and it was okay than the past years. there were some of my favorites that were gone, like the young mother who had a really nice voice. Some people were just awful and left their group to save themselves.. What do you think of this year's group day?

I totally agree with you. It was a lot easier to watch, but the pressure of group day still comes across tangibly. I wasn't able to see the entire group day episode, but I'm glad that they picked the ones they chose to go through to the next level. A comment on the judges though :) Steve Tyler comes across as no nonsense AND lovable. He is consistent about that which is great and he really knows what he's talking about. J Lo during group week was more critical. She was such a softy during the auditions but she raised her expectations during group week, which is just as well. Randy is making more sense now. Maybe it's because Simon is gone and Randy's kinda compensating. I really hope that this season will turn out great! :)

Yes,each judges must show what to expect from them and being celebrities themselves with forte in music means that they must show why they are there and picks the winner to the best of their knowhow.During the auditions they give chances to other contestants which they thought can do better or got talents but the next level is more crucial because its the stage where they will pick those who will proceed to the higher level of the competition.thanks for your thread LOL..

You know who suffers the most with group performances, First would be acoustic singers because they dont dance, they play instruments so it would be hard for them to dance and perform, next would be rockers, Dancers dont sing as groups because it would make them feel like a boyband member and we know rockers hates boybands, Then there is the modest singers who just hold the mild and sings. Personality clashes and artistic differences also ruined many contestants here.

I guess in a competition contestants must anticipate this kind performances.Group performance has been going on since day one when the show started and prospective contestants must have seen in advance before joining what they have to go through to show their talents. Speaking of talents, the runaway winner is sure will enter the music scene or even the movie industry so they must be multi talented if ever they will choose to join the music scene and the likes and I guess that's what this talent search is all about. And since this is their first time to meet and work together, personality clashes as you have mentioned and their artistic beliefs on ones capability would really be a factor in performing as a group. Thanks and have a good day.

i think to survivor the group week, first they need to swallow their pride and set aside their artistic belief, they will only do this once anyway, after that they can be the artist they wanted to be.

I think I got your point, anyway they will just do that for a certain time like practice and others so they must help each other to survive and proceed to next level. In fact it will also be added point in case they do, and in the end there must be a winner.thanks

Some groups ther were really bad had some great people in it, but the groups werent good at all. I felt bad for the people they let go that were really good. Its a tough thing to do and to sing in a group can be hard if you have never sang with someone else before. I believe tonight they sing by themselves and this is going to show whom they are and what they can do to save themselves from elimination.

I was pretty ticked because they make such a big deal about if anybody forgets the words they are gone but it seemed that if the judges liked them and they forgot the words they got to stay anyway. I also thought there were a few that got sent home that should have stayed and a couple that stayed and should have gone. They definitely got it right though when they sent chubby Jersey girl home , making a fool of herself trying to sing Beyonce....I thought my ears were going to bleed!

Many of these singers are not into performing as groups, they were solitary artist so makign them groups is really hard for sure.

Yes, these contestants are there to prove something but some are not lucky enough.Their main objective, each of them wants to win.So we can not blame them if their performance as a group would be up to par as judges expected.Another reason was maybe they have no much time to practice which is one of the rigors of a contests. Yes, being a judge in whatever contest is really a tough job. They also make mistakes in rating contestants, some even gives chance to others which some viewers thought does not deserve.Others were sent home but viewers think that it should not be so.Lets just hope the judges decision will be fair to all contestants...thanks

I saw that episode too- it was not as horrible as the past seasons- fortunately. But some still didn't do great. There were really nice performances. I just don't like the "stage moms"- I agree that it was unfair for others who relied on themselves..

Well, you know in joining a contest you must bring your own cheerers too it helps in uplifting you confidence.Maybe its because the judges now are more soft and accommodating then the previous ones. They even give chances if they saw that the contestant got talent. As the contest elevates on the higher level, judges gets more stricter...thanks
