I guess people have different uses for them. I myself have two phones but have three lines altogether since one is a dual sim phone. I do network marketing and a mobile phone is indispensable for me. The three lines I have are of the three major cellular networks in my country. A lot of mobile phone users can't send an SMS to a network not of their own so having all three lines would let them get in touch with me whatever their network provider is. If there's a mobile phone which can accommodate three sim cards, then I'd definitely would want that than having to always carry two mobile phones.

My mother works for a property management company and they provide her with a cell phone but not to be used for personal use and so therefor she has her personal cell phone to talk to friends and family. So she has two cell phone she carries around with her at all times and then while at work she actually has three because the landscape company that works were she manages gave her a cell phone as well. So she is a busy person but has to have all these phones with her. I guess its the way of life for most people.

I have two. One has my Italian number and the other has my UK number. I use them both.
While I am in Italy I keep the UK one switched on because friends and offices might need to contact me and it would cost them more to phone an Italian number. They phone my UK number and then i phone them back, if I can from my land-line where I have free calls abroad.

Whilst I don't have two I can understand why people have multiple mobile phones as one may be for business use whilst the other purely for personal use. In that case then that makes sense but having many mobile phones for no particular reason then their's no sense in that.

i think is not really necessary have more than one phone per person..such as if you buy a good device suitable for your needs you can manage all just having one...i neevr had in reality 2 phones in the same period till now..

I have only 1 cell phone. I work as a translator & my job pays for the bill partially. I can understand why some people have 2 or more phones but I spoke to my work for that very reason. I told them I don't want to carry 2 phones so they can just reimburse me for the part of my cell phone bill. They agreed & I don't have to worry about using my phone for personal reasons.

I can relate with this message you pointed out cause I myself have 3 cellular phone at the present. But not that I really wanted to have many phones but my other two phones now is just a hand-me-down phones from my sister since she bought a new phone for her personal use that sported two sim (service provider) in one phone. So what I did was that I use different sim in my 3 phones now, here in our country the most popular service provider are Globe, Smart and Sun company.
Even before having 3 phones, last year I already have two, one for my personal use and the other one I mostly used to communicate with my classmate in school since I was the class preseident then. My reason for not using my personal phone to contact my classmates regarding school stuffs was that most of them do flooding (sending messages which are not actually important, most of the time non-sense stuffs and the messages were not really intended for me which is very annoying on my part). And after the school year end and my term as class president was over I've already ditched the sim card I used for school purposes and I'm back to using my personal phone. In this strategy I've prevented those people who enjoyed sending bulk and non-sense messages to continually annoy me, and just happy to recieve messages that are really worth reading and replying to.
Going back to my 3 phones, I personally use the one with a Globe number in it and the extra two are just use to communicate with my family, relatives, friends and acquaintances with the same service provider since it is much less expensive to do just that especially when I have to call and talk to them for a longer time since I'm a prepaid user. :))

I actually have more than one cell phone, but I only use 1, as the rest are not activated. I just changed providers on Sunday, so definitely my last phone, is from another provider, so I can't use it, even though it is the same number, as I just change phones but not my number. Since I live alone, I am the only one using the phone anyway, and I don't work outside the home either. Take care, and have a very good day.

I don't think it's unusual. There are a lot of network providers and each has their promos to entice subscribers. Although there are phones that are capable of taking 3 sims at a time, it's still not sufficient to accommodate all networks. Besides, cellphones are becoming more of a fashion statement rather than a tool to communicate so people will still buy new phones even though the current one is still working and cellphones really last for years if you know how to take care of it. In most cases, people buy an expensive cellphone and a cheap cellphone for spare.

For others who have multiple cellphones, maybe it's because of their business. It's not they are not contented but for them to be accessible to their customers what ever subscription they have.
