Anyone had tried backpacking in EUROPE? Where did you go? What time of the year you went travelling?
Backpacking in EUROPE is my ultimate dream. This is in my bucket list. It would be my ultimate dream to visit european countries.
Anyone had done it? any tips and recommendations on places to visit?

I have backpacked around Europe and did that beginning in September. When I was 18 years old I had an Inter Rail Pass which People that live in Europe are eligible for. I had been working in Finland as a children's nanny. I began my trip there and then took a train from Helsinki to Turku. I caught a ferry over to Stockholm. I stayed in a ship youth hostel there. I took a train up to Narvik past the Arctic Circle. Then I took a train to Oslo and then over to Bergen. Next I visited Copenhagen. In Germany I went to Cologne. Then I explored some of Belgium: Brussels, Bruges and Ostend. Then I caught a train all the way to Budapest. On my way back I visited Salzburg and Paris.
Over the years since then I have had more backpacking adventures in Europe. Like when I was 19 years old I went on a trip in January to Central Europe. I visited Munich, Salzburg and its surrounding area, Innsbruck, Liechtenstein and Zurich. It was snowy and cold at that time of the year. When I was 25 years old I backpacked around the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Cesky Kromlov is the best place ever. Wow!
When I was 31 years old I wanted to go to Croatia and travel as cheaply as possible. I got a flight to Trieste and took an overnight bus to Dubrovnik. I camped and stayed in my tent on that trip in June. When I was 34 years old I got a charter flight to the Bulgarian coast. I did backpacking in Bulgaria and Romania.

Yes, a couple of times, with interrail tickets for the train. Interrail tickets are brilliant if you want to be able to go wherever you want to but don't mind dropping the most expensieve and fastest trains. You often have to pay extra for them.
I went in August/September one year and in February one year. The problem with summer is that it's packed, the problem in winter is that although it's not cold, it can be a bit windy and dreary in some areas.
I think it's a great way to visit a lot of countries and cities in say, one month. There's night trains between many cities, so you can sleep in the train. Either pay extra for a bed or just sleep in the chair. Some trains used to have couchettes and/or bigger seats that you had to pay a bit extra for but not as much as for a bed.

i know someone who did it. she stayed with relatives in Germany and went with a girlfriend to other countries. she met an Australian on the train (male, we are from Canada) and ended up marrying this guy. she went to Australia to be with him, then they came back to Canada and got married! now they live on the west coast of Canada and have been married for about 15 years.
