what band/song/music to listen to?

hello myLotters. i'm currently playing with a band of 4 and we're trying to find out which songs to start with. i'm hoping to get some suggestions as to which band or song or type of music could we listen to to start with? can someone give me at least five songs or band that are good for starters like us?we have played some songs from mudvayne and some from slipknot, but i honestly am not fond of listening to slipknot since the release of their 4th album which i did not like in any way. any suggestion would really be helpful. i'm looking for those with good melodic rhythms and i prefer mostly metal with some jazz or blues or something like that.

If you're planning to play those kind of music, i suggest you to try playing something like sepultura or soulfly. The riffs are quite simple but are very much powerful. Also, the arrangements of the songs or how it's composed is basically easy to follow

yeah, those are quite simple but with great impact, but those bands are kind of too old skool for us. i think we've past that genre of metal back in our high school days. what we're seeking for now is those that have melodic rhythms but with interesting and powerful riffs. we're not really into heavy metal, but something new, like those bands they categorize in the melodic metal genre. been searching for bands in youtube but can't seem to find our preference..

Talk with your bandmates. Discuss your favourite bands and decide between you on bands you all like. Listen to the band's early stuff. It might be pretty rubbish, but it's probably easier. Or, learn your favourite song from that band. But, a key thing to remember is LISTEN TO YOUR BANDMATES. Just because you like that song or band doesn't mean your friends do. Unless they acually do. Or, between you, compose your own song that fits all your styles. Whatever you do, it may seem hard, but listen to each other and make your own decisions. Only you know what you like exactly.

I very much like jazz band music, and amongst them, one of my favorites is Louis Armstrong's band music. They are, to my ears, very unique and very lively. That makes the listeners feel energetic and refreshed. You can try that if you like playing jazz music.

I will look up that louis armstrong's band definitely, but would you please suggest one good song of them where i could start with?getting a suggestion of song choice motivates me a little. maybe it's just me. thanks in advance.
