Rock legends begin to retire, who will the next legends be?

This year we'll see two great bands which made history in rock music,Scorpions and Judas Priest, say goodbye and play their final shows, which is quite sad,but it's inevitable, there comes a moment when we all retire even from this big stage which is life.Of course, there are still bands and artists like Alice Cooper,Ozzy,Motorhead,Whitesnake and so on who will still rock, but I think they will also retire in a few years,so my question is if there are younger bands which have the potential to become rock legends 20 or 30 years from now on.Who do you think will gain this status in the future?

I have all respect for hevy-metal, which in the past 30 years has been broken in so many genres and subgenres, which more or less diverse and interesting, that I find simply impossible not to find something you like now.We have thrash, speed, gothic, doom, power, progressive, groove, black etc, etc, each one with a lot of bands, varying from phenomenal to horrible. We are spoiled. What I would like to listen to over 20-30 years, and we said to have entered in rock history as "the titans"that you and you pointed out (Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, etc.) would be: Stratovarius,Within Temptation, Crematory, Therion,Anathema, After Forever, Katatonia,Amorphis, Epica, Xandria, Eluveite, and the list could go on forever, from my point of view. We have to admit (purely subjective opinion) that are current bands who blow, technical, artistic as you want, on their predecessors, but to get that they must have the strength to stay together, united. Wait a few suggestions from you about new bands that could resonate in a distant future!

I think Iron Maiden are on their way out :( I hope not, but it's kinda inevitable. Then the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Rock music has changed. There's a big difference between, say Metallica and maybe Kasabian or lostprophets, whether that's for better or for worse, I don't know, but I doubt today's artists and bands will match up to the Rock legends.

I agree with you,it's hard to say one of today's bands will become a legend, but nothing is impossible.I just hope Iron Maiden stll have something to say in rock music for a few years.

Yeah, I agree. I saw Maiden recently, they are still great performers but, they almost seemed tired and worn out. Like they are on their last legs :(

Well from what I have heard Judas Priest aren't retiring fully. I am under the impression from what I have heared that they aren't fully retiring, I think they released something on their website. I think they won't be doing large, full scale world tours, afterall they aren't getting any younger. Whether they will record again, reamins to be seen.

haha well I have been trying to get a band going for a while now n things are starting to kick off a little bit. I can never compete with them but I hope to be known some day :) as far as rock goes, im sorry to say but it seems to be dying :( the only way we can really get a great rock band in the future is for us to make them! any suggestions on songs to play/listen to in order to improve myself on? :D
