I finally did it. Yesterday I got my last mark on my freelance writers course and I passed. I am now officially a licensed author. I am so excited. All my life I have loved to write and now I have the chance to make a living out of something that I love. I am so very happy that I took the time to take the class because it gave me the chance to learn some very new and interesting facts about writing as a profession. I am now currently in the process of turning a short story that I wrote for class, into a novel that I wish to have published. I am very excited and can't wait to start. Have you ever taken a course that you hoped would lead to a profession that you would love? Did you complete the class? Why or why not? What are you doing now?

Just never take the time to commit to putting my stuff enough together to try submitting it somewhere. But seeing my name in Print on a book in time would be a Great thing for sure.

First all of, I want to congratulate you for such goods news! I also love to write. I love literature, and in fact I enrolled in some literature classes in the graduate school, although my undergraduate degree is psychology. The literature courses I took have driven me to understand and appreciate writing as a form of art. I'm not certain yet, but it is on my plan list of take up even a short course of creative writing, maybe.

My daughter has taken at least one class. She is also in a writer's guild. I have not. Where is your course from? How expensive was it?

Congratulations! For a job well done. I have never dreamed of being a writer as I know where my shortfalls lies and my lack of creativity is my handicap. I bumped into mylot by accident when I was scouting for an answer to something that was bothering me then. Reading the many interesting discussions here prompted me to sign up. By and by I got deeper into it and started to post my own discussions and received encouraging responses. This motivated me further into posting more topics. Until today, after more than 5 years with mylot I am still posting with no sign of calling it quits. Maybe I have the interest but no talent in writing like many who are really good in writing interesting and mesmerizing write ups. I need to polish the dusty layers in my new found gems before I can really excel in producing a more readable and interesting stories. I have never enrolled in any kind of course that would lead to a profession. Yours is an eye opener and hope many would take up writing seriously as there is always a need for good writers.

Hi. CRIVAS! Congratulations on becoming an author! I am very happy for you. This must be so exciting to be able to write books. I have taken many courses that would have led me to a profession that I now love, but I never seem to carry out this course. I hope that you enjoy writing as a author!

Okaaaay, I'm officially confused. Where do you live? I ask because if you're in America, there is no such thing as a "licensed" writer. Anyone can write & attempt to sell his or her work. I've done so! So, who claims to "license" writers' works?? Perhaps you're using the wrong term?

Congratulations. It's good that you accomplished something that's important to you, even if there's no such thing as a licensed author. You could have taken any kind of writing courses or even just learned from articles on the internet. I hope you aren't thinking that the course will guarantee you a living as a writer or that you're sure to be published. No course can guarantee that. You learn, you keep learning, you work hard, and maybe you'll achieve your goal. I certainly hope that you do.
I've never taken any kind of writing courses because I enjoy learning on my own. I also have an excellent background for someone who wants to be a writer -- thousands of books read during my lifetime. I also have the willingness to listen to critiques and learn from them. I'm just about to finish the final revision of a novel and hope to get it out as an ebook in March or April. Once that's done, I'll be working on another one of my novels and a short story.
