HCG - what are the risks?

I know a lot of people that have successfully lost a lot of weight with the HCG dieting program. What are some of the risks associated with HCG? If I start, what do I need to be concerned about?

I do not believe the HCG diet "works." I believe that the whole thing is a gimmick - there is no way that the injection you take has any effects toward weight loss outside of being purely phychological.
The way the diet truly works is by restricting you to an extremely strict 500 calories per day, which, in my opinion, is entirely ridiculous and unsustainable. Sure, you can go a few weeks and make it work and some weight will come off, but when you start eating even a little more than 500 calories without changing anything else, you will see the weight come back.
