Not long ago I had a conversation with a couple of young people who had discovered that it has become seldom that you see kid playing. The only thing they do is playing video games, which does not include a lot of imagination or movement.
What do you think??

Yes there are a lot of kids in this generation who doesn't play anymore or interact with other children but what they do is more on playing video games. This is dangerous because at their young age are exposed to cardiovascular diseases. I have heard many incidents where occurrences of heart attack and stroke happen at a very young age.
I have a nephew and I'm happy because they are not like those kids. We wanted them to interact and play with other children and they are really very active and smart. Yes they do play video games but it's to a minimal. Sometimes it's up to us also as to how we control the number of times or hours where they should play video games.

I think that it is essential to create some kind of balance.-
A couple of years ago I visited a school for pilots. During the tour we saw the flight simulator and the instructor told us that all those young people who play video games are very good using the simulator, in fact much better then those older people who have not played a lot of video games yet.-
So I am thinking that we cannot take the video games out of the lives of children.-But I think that children should be at least 7 years old when they use video games, and there should be enough time for them to play outside with their friends.

Playing video games can be of help if guided properly. I have been also into playing games and I can say that this makes me think logically especially making strategies to win on a game.
I guess you are right that video games must be introduced at a proper age and also we must select only the types of video games that must be introduced where they can develop their thinking skills. And for me I just don't allow my nephew to play any kind of video game but I only give him those where he can learn as well.

Yes, this is not good and I too have noticed this with my niece and nephew. I don't like it as they are not really socializing with children their own age and they are not getting adequate exercise.
I keep telling their mom, that she needs to develop some sort of routine to get them out of the house and away from the computer. I tell her she has to force a few outings here and there and she won't listen.
It is not good as they are literally eating in front of the pc and they barely have any family communication. It will not be good for the future of their family as the children if ever taken to visit someone are very rude, demanding to go home and she gives in, to find later they rush to their computer.

Hey, I was chocked when I heard about children's laughter being labeled as noise pollution.
Children's pay and laughter is not noise. It is life and living and enjoying that you are in this wonderful world.
- Maybe those old people forgot that they were young once too. -Or maybe they are not really alive anymore?-

Yes, it's sad that children don't play outdoors anymore. Besides video/computer games, lack of space is another reason. The apartment complex where I stay at does not have a play area or ground to play at. Most children do go down in the evenings. But cycling seems to be the only thing they do and then they get bored pretty soon (blame that on all the television and video games and short attention spans). They do not try to figure out new games to play and stick to the tried and tested ones which the adults stop them from due to broken windows and lamp posts.

Babies like toys and these little ones grow up knowing how to play with toys and games. I have a three year old disabled son and he likes playing with his train set, tool table and space shuttle. My twenty month old daughter likes to play with her tea set, dolls and baby dolls pushchair. Children after age 11 don't tend to play anymore or all that much. Some of them at that age get into video games. There are play stations, x boxes and nintendos. Disks for these tend to be quite pricey. A teenager must have time for his or her schoolwork.

I think that is correct. That's because technology is so much better know. When we were younger we used our imagination and made up our own games. Which made us use our brains a lot . We made up things to do for fun to keep us from being bored because there wasn't really nothing to do but to do that or play with our toys which we didn't have as much toys back then because there wasn't as much variety of toys then and our family didn't buy much toys, so the toys got boring fast. The more kids there was to play with the more fun because more brains together to come up with games to play together.

I'm not really disturbed by this but I do feel sad. I mean, video games are fun. I play them myself but being with friends and laughing together while playing is still different. Indeed, technology plays a big part in the deterioration of personal communication. People don't meet organically anymore and kids don't actually get to play with other kids anymore. They would rather stay in front of their computers to play games where people kill zombies and other people. It's just sad that personal communication had to be somehow sacrificed in order to give way to the new age. If only time could be turned back, we would have the chance to set things straight. Balance between the old playing scheme and technology isn't a bad idea I guess. At least, kids would have the best of both worlds. Then everyone can be happy.

i know what you mean. what the question really is that why dont kids use their imagination anymore? they either sit in front of the computer, play video games or watch tv. its like pulling teeth to even get them to read (fortunately, my daughters both like to read. my older daughter cannot entertain herself at all while my 13 year old is quite good at it and have a very good imagination).

Yeah, I noticed that also. Unlike during my childhood years, my siblings and I are always out playing street games which includes running, jumping, hide and seek and even climbing neighbor's trees. Those were the days that I enjoyed most during my younger years. Children today are more busy playing video games and updating their status on facebook, chatting with friends on their cell phones which are not really healthy for them. They do not even have exercise so they can build their muscles, that's why most children today are wearing eye glasses and doesn't do good in school.
