Antivira AV..how to get rid of it?

Earlier this week, I was on a government site and next thing you know, windows are popping up every which way and yes, I do have a pop-up blocker.
After a few tries, I can surf in Normal mode but I have to change LAN settings right before logging in. If I use the Safe mode, I cannot hear any audio nor print and some pages read strange.
Either way, I cannot retrieve some files from my external hard drive.
What to do? Thanks

Oh yeah...I think I know what internet company is responsible for this "gift". Let's just say if you have a blog, there's no need to register with every web directory. I'm trying to give them a couple of days to remove something from my blog which may have caused the AA virus.

You know what? The best anti-virus is ESET NOD32. It really blocks all trojans, spywares, malwares... Name it.. but for your case, your computer is already infected by a virus.
