Sacred Fish?

Do you release your large and small mouth bass?
I've watched my son release a 7 lb bass without hesitation. To some fisherman, the bass has become sacred and should be released at all cost. To others, it's an opportunity for a tasty meal. Unless its the trophy I'm looking for, I tend to want to release, probably because my son would never let me hear the end of it. How did this fish become so sacred anyway?

I’m mostly a catch-and-release person too, but I get why some folks keep them. Bass have definitely earned their "sacred" status—maybe because they’re such a prized catch. Sounds like your son is serious about conservation! :)
