Good day Fellow Mylotter,
Just a quick one, I was wondering why some computer games are somehow addicting. Wherein, the moment you start playing the game, you will find it hard to stop playing with it.
Just like my friend, before, she is just playing the game whenever she has a free or spare time but now, she always play it and has been a part of her everyday to do. And, there are times, she will not sleep yet until she have had play that computer game.
Is there any reason why some computer games are somehow captivating and addicting?

Yeah! It is so true that comouter games are addicting and captivating. When I start playing I cant stop. But later, I will find it quite waste of time. And so I sometimes choose not to start it. And even the facebook games! They are addicting too lol.
And more than computer games, I think all electrical devices are captivating.

I think because its made us challenging from the first level. At first its so easy and getting harder every time and force our curiosity to keep on trying to solve it. I personally love strategy game than game thats require speed. I love to arrange every thing and its usually taking so many time to finish but I am glad now not to addicted into it.
I the game developer really understand human psikology and they made game which can made us stay in computers for hours. Even my mom love to play it in my laptop but my dad only play chess game. I think most online game thats really success is thats they made usser really connected with game, belonging and challenging in the same time.

There are many game addicts in my location. Almost them are young persons. Some Games are very attractive and they can't leave them after they played them.

A good question. While I'm reading your statement, I've realize that I'm like your friend. I love playing GodsWar on Facebook, it is a kind of a game which is battle and quest. After my work when I'm finally home its always my routine to play it, my reason why I am so addict on GodsWar because i feel that I am the character of that game and i want to be strong on my guild. I want to finished my quest for me to level up and get the good items for me to be the most strong character on the game. I thought why computer games are addicting and captivating because of those reason, mostly for those people who want to escape their problem through the game. Like me! I know it is not good for me, cause it is not the solution for my problem. I just only want to have any good things, and to be powerful just for only for a second even if it is only in the game.

it's like reading a good book, you want to see what happens next. The elder scrolls series Morrowind and Oblivion with user made mods kept me playing for 10-12 hours a day for 3 years straight! than i started playing Shaiya an MMO and got hooked up with friends and played 10-12 hours a day for 2 years! now i can't find a game like those anymore. when you see newer updated graphics it ruins the older games for you.

Hey airashelia,
That is a very good question and some what hard to comment or give an answer. I rememb when I use to be addicted to MYLOT and I was like your friend couldn't sleep unless I at least was on it for a hour or 2 at least lol.. Why I was so addicted because i earn money online and that was my main focus at the time so I just kept it going.
With games I also had my fair share of being a addicted to games as well. I was addicted to a world of war craft game wow I didn't get much sleep either it was just the game it was so much fun to me. To me when our mind or even our body find something we like somethi that reaches our high point of addiction then we stick with it. Our minds with games are fry entertain and it's like it makes you feel like happy and wow that was awesome like you have been amazed. And because of that your mind is always focus on that one thing that just seem to fulfilled you want of entertainment.
For example it's like when everyone watches awesome movie just loved it a lot. Your mind still thinks about that movie for awhile and you watch a few times and can't get over it haha. It amazes you and you love it because it hits your peak of entertainment and it's always in your thought until something does that instead.
I think we as people look for entetainmeny and doing so we will search for something till we find the ing we love like swimming people sometimes can be in a pool for hours and just stay in there and play because you re entertain you don't really need anything else
So to me what makes us addicted to anything is out brain our mind want to find something that reaches the peak our entertainment and our satfication. That I believe is what makes us addicted to stuff

I have been addicted to a couple of computer games in the past, and I remember playing hour after hour. Once I got started I just couldn't quit. The game was actually pretty stupid, but it was very hard, and I think that was the reason why I kept on playing. When I got to a certain level in the game I couldn't get any futher, because it was too hard, and as I am a very stubborn person I found it hard to accept that I wasn't able to finish the game. I kept on trying and trying because I wanted to see the end of the game and I wanted to prove to myself that I was able to finish it.

I believe that designers of computer games already have our addiction to their games in mind when they create them. they want us to keep playing their games. There is no profit to them if we are to quit playing their games. They will do whatever it takes to keep us with them.

I've been an online gamer on my college days. I played it everyday and sleep very late, sometimes forgot to sleep because I'm very caught up in the game. What made me into it? Well, if it has good graphics I'm into it also when my friends are also playing it. And you can also earn money from it, like selling items to your friends. In-game money selling. And you can also gain friends. Thats where I met my husband. =)
