Well, I have been wanting to buy a mobile phone this year. I kind of decided to get either a Blackberry Bold 9780 or the 9700 Bold. Any thoughts about it? I like the blackberry because it allows me to do stuff I don't usually do on a phone. Aside from that I am still waiting for the new iPhone as well.

I've been using 9700 for a while now & it's really a nice phone. There are 3 main differences between 9700 & 9780. Internal memory. 9700 has 256mb, 9780 has 512mb. Camera - 9700 has 3.2mp camera & 9780 has 5mp camera. And operating software - 9780 comes with 0s6. 9700 is fine for everyday things. If you take a lot of pictures with your phone & you're planning to download a lot of apps for your phone, then yeah, 9780 would be better.

I know there are few "unofficial" copies of os 6 floating around. I personally don't really what os the phone has as long as it does what it supposed to do. I do have 8gig memory card in my phone so I really don't need all that big of a memory in my phone. Everything I do gets stored in the memory card & I don't have that many apps so 256mb is fine for me. Eventually, all the carriers will have their 9700's os upgraded to os 6.

Well, the 256mb is the RAM it comes with so I do not really know. But some say a 512mb ram will always run faster.

My question is this now, is it capable of upgrading the 9700 OS5 to the higher OS 6? Memory internet is fine as long as it isn't saturated, but that is what the memory SD card is for.

My beau is using that one, with the way I see it. I guess this one really looks good and aside from that is durable it would not easily messed up or what so ever. So far my beau did not experience any trouble in using the phone.

Blackberry Bold is one of the best phone I ever used. I myself felt no phone is better than Bold to be honest.
If you have extra bucks, get 9780 as it has bigger memory and build in OS 6. If not, 9700 is just fine.
This is far better than any other phones (sorry iPhone and Droid). I am sure you will not get disappointed with this great phone.
By the way, welcome to BlackBerry world :)

It is not welcome yet. I still have to buy one pretty soon. Most of my friends told me that the Bold is truly an awesome phone. But the question now is, is it okay or able to be updated to the OS 6 which only comes on the 9780. I hear you have a 9700?
