I think the current unrest and the situations we see arising show that President Obama has zero influence or credibility. He has not had any strong response or statement on these uprisings, and that is mostly because he doesn't know what he thinks nor does he understand how to do anything useful. I think he is just hoping to make some sort of policy statement once the situations are resolved and pretend he's been saying that all along.

zills66, I don't think we will have the actual answers or rather the truth just by watching the news channel or read it on the newspapers because these demonstrations are NOT peaceful in the first place. I am sure you would agree with me, when demonstrations in both Tunisia and Egypt had already overthrown the governments. These demonstrations aren't peaceful and most of the time are against the law. Also, it is highly likely that the situation could just happen the other way where the protestors took things into their own hands. However, I do agree with you that restraint on both ends is really necessary and of the essence here. I hope that these demonstrations will cease or at least moderate down, so that the country's economy and most of all people will not be greatly affected, taking into account lost of innocent lives.
