dogs are one of our bestfriends, indeed. well, i've no intention whatsoever of harming my dog through giving food that maybe consider poison to them, but i'm quite curious as to how unhealthy really are grapes to dogs? this is rather new to me so if someone would gladly enlighten me about grapes for dogs, it'll really be very helpful enough. though i sometimes release my emotions to my pet, i do not fail to also love my dog through giving treats such as fruits.

Hello jstrjnjimenez,
Many years ago I didn't know that grapes and rasins can be a poison for dogs. I used to let my previous dog eat as much as she liked (fortunately she was a picky eater and she didn't use to eat too much from anything). We used to go to the countryside to help my parents in the vineyard, and Nera was free to do whatever she liked. She used to eat a few beans then she went to sleep in the shadow. She never had any problem with it but later, when I found out that grapes can cause kidney failure in dogs, I never let her eat any more grapes or raisins.
Here's a link to a well docummented article about how much dammage can cause grapes ingestion in dogs: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/raisins.asp
The dog from the given example ate half a canister of fresh grapes and his owners had nothing to do but euthanize him.

oh my goodness! just read the article and that is a very very sad story. i really never thought that that could lead to euthanisia. i thought it was supposed to be nutritious. damn, should've know better. i think whenever the price of grapes becomes at its lowest, we buy too much for us, and feed the remaining (maybe about 10 pieces) to our dog. this is relevant news that should be known to all dog owners, especially those who are in a diet full of fruits and veggies and less meat. this was really a helpful tip my friend. thanks. i think this is the best info i've learned about dogs..

I'm glad I was helpful.
As I said my dog also used to eat a few beans now and then, but when I found out how dangerous may be the grapes ingestion, I never let her eat any grapes. With the dog I have now it is more difficult to keep her away from grapes or raisins because she's a big eater. She would eat anything, even what is not edible.
But after I read this article I am sure she will never even taste grapes.

Hi, jstrjnjimenez. I just know for a fact that feeding grapes to a dog would not be such a safe thing to do. I have not read online the facts about this, but I can just tell that feeding grapes to dogs, would cause more harm than good to their sensitive stomachs.

Thank you for posting this question. I looked at some of the answers, and learned something new. I never knew that grapes were toxic to dogs. Now I know not to feed my dog any grapes.
