Can you live without internet access and cable tv connection?

I used to ask this question to my friends a lot and most of the answers I get are a big 'NO'. Before, I'd say I can! I only need a good book and something to keep me busy. But now that I use the internet to earn money, I may be one of the people who would say NO as well. How about you? Or in the event that you can, what will keep you busy during your spare time?

A big NO. Not only do I use the internet as a source of income, but as I am an avid book reader my kindle goes everywhere with me. My siblings as well as old friends are stretched throughout the globe and keeping in touch with them with them without the world wide web would be highly unlikely if not truly impossible.

Absolutely NOT. Never, I cant live without internet access and cable TV for even a day. On 6 March my cousin's marriage will be held in a village where cable TV is available but there is no internet access in that village. So, i have a better plan a made a lie in the family that in my university our professor suggest us to take examinations. hehe. I told my family that i can't attend the wedding ceremony for my examination reason. Wish them Happy wedding and me Happy HOME ALONE.

Hey, you shouldn't miss your cousin's wedding day! It's just a one day ceremony. Unless of course if you have to stay for a couple of days. Whenever I have to visit my parents back home, I always bring my back-up USB wireless broadband for internet connection. It's slow but at least I can keep up with some of my daily online money making sites.

Hi yallit, I couldn't live without cable tv connection for my amusement was totally relying on it. but this happened only before I didn't have my home internet. After I had subscribed the network service from the isp years before I then spending my leisure time watching free internet tv programs as well as music from online radios. Other than spending a small part of my leisure time doing some outdoor physical activities I have great pleasure indulging in all my favorite online activities including reading and typing posts here at myLot lol... Happy posting

the moment my laptop is dormant during my bedtime only. This is for the convenience to have fun on it at any free time. I won't miss any important mail as well for my mailbox is one of the tabs available on the screen. The melodious music is airing from my favorite free internet radio station too

Yeah, me too. I'm practically glued to my laptop whenever I'm home. I don't even shut it down during my off days from work.

I stood on vacation, but I went to the beach, trips and had no time to miss them. At home, however, I think I would be very hard to give them up! I could not still believe! Should I change all my habits and find other interests to empower me in my spare time!

We're on the same boat. As long as my internet connection is up and running, I don't care that I don't have any cable connection. I usually download TV series and movies anyway. lol.

I only use my TV nowadays to watch the local news. I don't watch any of the soap operas except 100 days to Heaven. For some reason I got hooked with that soap opera. lol!

At this time of answering I believe I cannot live without an internet. It seems difficult to pass a day without it. Just like you I am also earning from internet though not that much. I am still looking for ways to find how to really earn a decent money from it. I sued to read books too. Most of them pocket books. The likes of Grisham and Sheldon novels. But since I was out of my job, it seems reading is forgotten and internet is my interest now.

I like Grisham and Sheldon books too. I believe, I've read all of Sheldon's books. I may have missed 2-3 books of Grisham though.

Definitely not since the internet is my only source of income. I'm a work from home mom and I depend on the internet daily just to survive our monthly expenses. If I was working in an office then losing the internet and cable tv wouldn't be much of a problem since I can find ways to entertain myself.

I can also say No. I've been using the internet as an additional source of income so I won't last the day without it.

I completely agree with you. I used to not be so dependent on the internet while I was in college. I was more busy doing other things for my classes and only need the internet a few times a week for research or a little bit of email. Now that I'm done with college, I do a lot of working online to make our ends meet and keep in contact with friends and family. If I no longer had access to the internet I would have to drastically change my daily routine.

Same here. I became an internet 'addict' a year ago. I now have a hundred DVD disks full of movies and TV series I downloaded online to prove that. lol. After learning how to earn online just few months ago, I realized that I can't lose my internet connection even for a single day because I will also lose my earnings.

I am currently living without them at home. I only have internet access at our office. Without such distraction, it can be a good bonding time for me and my son. We both read a book or do story-telling. We play board games like snakes and ladders. We play with his toys too. Do painting or drawing together. The activities are endless if we use our creativity and imagination. You would soon discover that life without TV wouldn't be at all boring.

I enjoy television and internet but do not live for them. If I lost them I still have radio and newspapers for information. I have radio and music for entertainment. I have dvds and old vhs taped movies by the hundreds. I have at least 100 books I have not read though I own them and I have a library within walking distance of my home. I have no shortage of things to do in my yard. I have a big, forested park near my home. I guess losing tv and internet might just make me smarter and healthier.

Wow that's a lot of books that you need to leaf through. I've read all the books that I have at least twice, some even 5 times or more.

I definitely can not live without the internet access. I use it almost 24/7 for my work, and, of course, for my additional incomes. I also use it to find some free animated movies for my little girl who likes watching them on the computer. As to the cable TV - yes, I can live without it for sure. I wouldn't miss it if it was gone. Everything I need - news, documentaries, films, reality shows (not that I watch the latter in particular), TV shows - I can find them all on the internet and I don't need a cable TV for them.

I no longer have cable TV. My TV set is just showing local shows this time and I only turn it on if it's time for the daily news. I am no longer a kid, but I do love anime still and I use my laptop to download those anime.

Could I live? I am sure I could probably live without the internet. Would I be happy about it. No I would not be happy about it at all. I make my living over the internet so it would hurt me financially plus I am addicted to it and like to use it so it would bother me on that level as well. I think life would go on with out it but it would certainly be different.

In my spare time I would excercise, play tennis, or run. I would wash dishes or cook meals for kids, I´d do homeworks with them, I will attend mass (I´m a singer), I´d play piano or guitar... hehe =) Blessings!... Dainy

Actually just recently I got cable and internet back. I have been without for about five months now. I made it ok, because I am a book lover and writer. But I did miss being able to chat with friends online and watching some of my favorite shows. I lived without for a time and was ok with it. The funny part- the before I got internet and cable back is when it really started getting to me!

Yes, but it would be an adjustment. I could probably use the money I weren't spending on an ISP to buy ... something like cable---netflix or redbox movies or something.
