Nail biting isn't a good mannerism a child to have. Unfortunately, my child has that kind. She is an active little girl but has a habit of biting her nails causing it to look uglier. I always tap her fingers everytime i see her fingers resting on her mouth. I ask her what's her problem why she has to do that thing and she says nothing.I found out that nail biting is one of the symptoms of tense feelings. A child is unaware that she started biting her fingertips everytime she feels discomfort especially when nervous. I tried to keep her relaxed by just boosting her up and I believe that a mother's touch can ease the troubled feelings a child has in a particular situation. Apparently, she will put down her fingers but after 5 minutes she will do it again. I don't want to reprimand my child that's why i always remind her of her bad habit.Im afraid if she will continue nailbiting she will be toyed by her classmates. I am looking for best tips to stop it.Some says hypnotizing will do but do i always have to hypnotize my child? Can you give some suggestions?

my teenaged daughter bites her nails and is going for counselling due to other issues. her counsellor told her that any habit like that is a sign of nervousness. maybe your daughter is worried? maybe you need to get to the root of the problem.
