Has anybody been hypnotised and regressed to a past life? Share your experiences, of what you experienced and what you found out. Really interested.

There's no such thing as past life regression. It's a scam run by people who make money from it, though it's sometimes done by psychologists who aren't even aware of how they're influencing the person. And that's all it is: suggestions made to someone in a hypnotic trance. As long as a hypnotized person isn't told to do anything that's against his morals or beliefs, he'll accept any suggestion as true. This has been proved over and over, with videotapes made of "regression" sessions that clearly show how the hypnotist has guided the person into the experience, suggesting where he's going and what's happening. The more suggestible a person is, the more likely he is to believe that what he experienced was real instead of an induced fantasy.

I think that tapes that show how it's done are facts. What facts are your Buddhist beliefs based on?

Hi Catana, and thanks for your valued input. What about those who are convinced that they have had a glimpse of a past life and have never been hypnotised or influenced by anyone. Can we all say that there is no such thing with our hand on our heart, or should we just assume that anything could be possible. There are so many unanswered questions in the World and some will never be answered, as maybe we are not to have knowledge of these happenings.

Richnai, I didn't think you were being antagonistic. It's just that I'm a person who depends on science and facts, and I know that it's very easy for people to believe in things that have been created in their own minds and that don't really exist. There's no scientific evidence for past life regression. Even when there are cases of so-called past lives memories that haven't been induced by a hypnotist, it all depends on someone saying it's so, and other people believing it. Self-hypnosis is very common, and strong belief is a kind of self-hypnosis. I'm familiar with Buddhism, and I respect its teachings, but that doesn't make its statements about past lives any more valid.

No, I have never been hypmotized for any reason. I would kind of like to just to get the experience. I want to see if it is really real an would really work. I would want my husband there though because I trust him and he will tell me weather or not I was truly hypmotized and if I said or one any odd things while I was under.

Hi Ladym, Like you, I would also like to experience being hypnotised and I think it is important that if you are going to go under you need to do it with someone you have 100% faith and trust i or a bystander that you can trust as an onlooker. It would also be nice if the hpnotisr recorded, either by video or tape, the session so that you would always have a record of what you experienced and said whilst under.

I know someone who hypnotizes people. He's a friend. But I don't know if he can do the past life thing. I think that's supernatural or something.
