Guarantees in life.

I do not believe in guarantees in life. First of all, they rely on you controlling the actions of someone else. If you are guaranteed something, then someone else has to provide it. But the worst part about guarantees is human nature. With guarantees comes complacency and apathy. Have you ever heard of anyone working or fighting for something they know is guaranteed? No! People who are guaranteed a paycheck waste the most money. Why? Because they know they have more money coming in. However, look what happens when a person is layed off of work.. or they see that they might soon be.. all of the sudden, money becomes important to them. Food is another example. When we know our next meal is guaranteed, what are our eating habits compared to how we would eat if we don't know when or where our next meal would be? Look at the shopper doing their regular, weekly shopping compared to how people shop when expecting an emergency or disaster? Why are illegal aliens willing to work so much harder, and do jobs others aren't wiling to do? While the rest of us want guarantees, all they want is a paycheck.. and while we are complaining that out checks "aren't enough", they are taking what little pay they have, and sending most of it back to the 'home country'. Guarantees do nothing but promote apathy and complacency.

Interesting. It seems those who are conditioned to being guaranteed certain things in life seems to find a "blind spot" if you will in the "part of their vision", if you will, that seeks motivation". For instance, if a person were guaranteed every single thing that any person could need, perhaps that person would be incapable of achieving even the simplest of things. No offense, but children who live in luxurious conditions tend to grow up "disabled" in some way ... What do you think ?

Life in general is not guaranteed. Take and live life to it's fullest. You have a greater feeling of pride when you earn something. You did it. You accomplished it.

That's a perfect explanation of why unions are so destructive and why we see union workers not plowing NY streets, resulting in the deaths of at least two people.

Yup, unionism might as well be the chapel of the cult of guarantee worship. They preach it, they steal for it and in former days, they killed for it.

This is the problem with entitlements. Somebody who works hard for their money would NOT spend $50 on hot dogs and slurpees at 7-11. However, I am always behind the person in line at the store with their food stamp card doing just that. I work damn hard to feed four people. My shopping cart is full of items to cook from scratch, flour, bulk meat and cheese etc. Somebody that gets $400 loaded on a card each month has the sugar based cereals, and processed foods. Which I dont understand, I work a lot of hours and still cook healthy meals for my family. Some people dont do a thing all day and still heat up tv dinners. People using their welfare cards at casinos and strip clubs, I dont go to these places, every dollar I have is worked for.

I agree. Guarantees could be broken so you still have to worry about it. There always has to be plan B for everything.
