Big time savings at the grocery store

My husband and I went to the grocery store today. I am a couponer and managed to save right at about 43% off our total bill. The items I bought were on sale and I found a coupon to go with those sale items. I also got some stuff for free because of coupons. Bi-Lo even has a meal deal going on right now and I took advantage of that for a dinner for hubby and me for less than $8 for the two of us to eat tonight. Plus I have dessert for a couple of days (or however long ice cream will stick around with the grandkids and hubby! LOL) as well as some diet Coke for me to drink. How is your savings at the stores going?

I tend to not really use too many coupons unless it's the only way to get the sale price on the item. Usually going to Aldi's is cheaper than the local chains "store brands" even with a coupon. It would be worth my wild if they doubled coupons or didn't have so many goofy rules.

First of all a warm welcome to mylot KG4SXF. For me, we've been really tight on money for the last several months so we've been doing a lot of making meals off of things that Kroger has on sale for one dollar. However, last week we went to the grocery store and got some splurge items that we don't typically get and I ended up saving 70% off of the total bill because we had some coupons that the store had sent us for free items. It was great because they are things that would have eventually bought anyway.

Congrats on the savings! I clip coupons and try to hit the sales but I am not up to saving 50% yet. I don't have a Bi-Lo near me. None of the stores near me double coupons unfortunately. I just have to pick and choose the best deals I can find. Sounds as if you have it down to an art! Good for you!

I use coupons when I go to the store also. I try to buy stuff when it is on sale and I have a coupon with it that is a bonus to me. I just wish I could save more. I have watched a show on TV how they save so much using coupons. My daughter says they are cheaping the system because she works in a grocery store.

My sisters collect many coupons since last year so she is using it right now to buy our things.Big save for this and next month.Plus we used to checked and do some survey about items price and decide the best price before purchase any of them. This will take some time but worthwhile.

Coupons really are amazing. My mom doesn't like them because she thinks it is embarrassing to use, I however use whatever I can get my grubby hands on. I save tons of cash with them.

i am in canada and we cant use more than one coupon per item per visit so we cant get cases of one thing with coupons for each of them. i often find that the store brand is often cheaper than the name brand one even with the cents off coupon.

Actually I spent very little this week because I was sick and did not go out much. I did go to the local ethnic market to get a few things. They have really good prices on produce there. You kind of have to avoid the aisles, but produce is always nice and cheep there and I bought a couple of boxes of scratched and dent boxes. They take fruits and vegetables that have minor scratches or tiny bad spots. You can a huge variety box for $1.48, these veggies are great soups, you just cut off the bad spots and cut them up for soup. I also got a whole box of a about 30 bananas for $1.48. The Peels were just beginning to brown and the bananas inside were perfectly fine. Of course I had to use them fast. I made some banana pudding with banana slices, some banana bread, and dipped the rest in almond bark to make chocolate covered bananas. I had friends over to play poker that night and they chowed on those.

We have super double coupons this week at Harris Teeter. They will double coupons up to 1.98 each. I save my big coupons for this sale. They run it every few weeks. This is when I buy medicines, hair dye, detergent, etc. All my 1.00 and up coupons. This is also the time when we can try out new things too. Some things the kids like is too expensive to buy unless we get a really good deal.
