Yes. Nonito Donaire won't be the next Manny Pacquiao.... WHY? Because he's going to be THE NEXT NONITO DONAIRE. He's going to make it big. He's going to make a name for himself and for the country. He's not going to be under the shadow of Pacman. He's going to be his own self. His own champion. Im so proud of Nonito Donaire. Overthrowing the defending holder for 2 world championship titles in just 2 rounds! A winning technical knock-out indeed. It was the left hook of a lifetime. The match was a tremendous win for him and for all of us Filipinos. I shouted when his opponent fell. I was gleaming for joy. I watched it over and over again in youtube and on TV as well. It's just too perfect. I really hope he makes it big. He will go a long way because he is NONITO DONAIRE.

Donaire's win over montiel was very impressive. I think that's the moment when people finally realized that Nonito has finally made a name for himself and not just another Pacquiao wannabe. I watched his (nonito's) punch over and over again on Facebook and the slowmo really showed how Montiel's face almost separated from his skull. That's a great day for Filipinos but on the other hand, i can help but pity the boxers for putting their life in danger with that kind of sports. Last I heard on the news, it will take months before Montiel's head heals. It's really sad that we have to celebrate at the expense of the injury of the opponent.

Agree, they have their own identities. He might be as good but he should build a name for himself and not hide under the shadow of Pacman.

I also believe that he won't be the next Manny Pacquiao. He already made a name for himself. He was previously in 5th place in the ladder for pound for pound king wherein Pacman is first and Floyd being the second. Now, after that tremendous knockout, he made it to 3rd place. Congratulations to Nonito Donaire!

Amen! All the best to Nonito Donaire. Long may he reign! and you're right he is NOT Manny Pacquiao and I don't think he is trying to either. These don't mean that they make one man better than the other but here's why: - Donaire speaks better English (again this never means that Nonito is any better than pacquiao) - Donaire in the way he moves in public is more "flashy" while Pacman is more "humble" note quotation marks. but they DO both make us very proud!

Yes, He's NONITO DONAIRE himself. A man of his own. He's better than of the one they claim to be a great fighter when he has not defend any of his titles and Donito is not an opportunist, not a user and most of all a true boxer, a champion and really giving honor, real honor and not "pre-arranged" honor for the country!

Nonito is different from Manny Pacquiao. What is important is that both makes every filipino proud! Long live Nonito!!

One thing I discovered from this boxer is that he also came from Gen. Santos City which Pacman is also from. For now I guess he would still grow under that path of that Pacman is threading in the case of his boxing career. It cannot be denied that it is always Pacman that will be the basis of comparison. Although I truly believe that he will carve his own career path. I think that there is still lots of opportunities that lies beyond but then he has to be careful with handling this to be sure that he can truly get away from the shadow that Pacman has created.

You really can never compare two boxers. Each boxers have their own weaknesses and strength. So Donaire, in my own opinion, will be famous in his own right. Just like waht happened with Pacquia, previously they said tha pacquia will be the next flash Elorde, but now, he has proven that he made his own destiny.
