10 years ago if you purchased a videogame, Its a complete game, once you finished the game you will unlock extra features like bonus games, secret characters, additional levels, alternate costume for characters.. All the features of that video is in one disk and you felt rewarded finishing the game over and over again once you unlocked extra features. But now things changed, ever since videogames must have internet connection, DLC is created. Now after you finish game, there is not much extra feature or new unlockables, its freaking useless after finishing it two times. To have extra characters, weapons, levels, costumes or stages you have to pay for extra downloadable content. What worst some of the DLC are already on the disk and you are just paying for a patch to unlock it. ------------ In fighting games before you have to play it over and over again to unlock characters, Now you have to download extra characters and pay them. In RPG's and action shooters you have to pay DLC for additional stages. --------- Here is my fear in the next few years, when you purchased a video game is is going to be super incomplete and every month you have to pay to download DLC for new stages. As in an action game might only have 3 levels and to play the other 17 levels you have to pay. Or in fighting games, You will only have 4 characters in the roster and you have to pay 5 dollar each for every additional characters, --------

I haven't played any new games for the past 6 years so I have yet to experience DLC. Back than we had to buy mission packs / expansions on the regular discs. What you said sounds awful but still, there are some developers will give you free DLC's with new stuff they created after the game was released. But DLC can b excuse for developers to release unfinished game as a final product and patch it up later using DLCs.

It's no quesiton that companies have turned to DLC to increase their profits on a game, slowing churning it out to extend a game's life (and thus, earnings from it) with well overpriced content. How is it I can buy the full game for $60, then pay $15 for three maps? It just doesn't add up. And I absolutely HATE it when the DLC is already on the disc. It's like a slap to the face.

I agree with you. I think DLC is dumb. Although it does work for some games, such as Rock Band or Guitar Hero. RB offers new songs like every week. So that is good to increase your song library with RB. Really I think DLC only really benefits games like Rock Band or Guitar Hero, cause it works for those games.

If Dlc is a new content and its not inside the disk I wont mind it. But yeah I want to feel like I purchased a whole game when I purchased a cd. I also think DLC should be 1 year later after the game's released. I think DLC on the disk is cheating to people.

I have no interest in downloadable content for games, I'll wait for the greatst hits version that will have all the DLC on the disc.

I tried waiting but sometimes they still make it dlc, there has been like 3 versions of street fighter IV and all dlc's remained dlc.

Paid DLC is a load of bull. For example the 15$ for 4 maps in COD WTF!! I wish more companys would follow Valve's example of free DLC. I have no problem in buying there games.

Whats worse are the companies making costumes and bonus characters into DLC, 5 dollars for a character, 10 years ago we know gaming is not like this, all contents are on the disk. Yeah Valve is such a role model for companies, they make their games worth buying now. compared to other larger companies out there who milks the cash out of their fans.

The UGC is only in the 2nd game and the downloadable title. They are both PS3 exclusives as Sucker Punch is now owned by Sony. Cole's electric powers are awesome to say the least. They are further expanded in the second game to include different elements depending on if you are good or evil.

Sucker Punch, who created the inFamous series did a lot of free DLC updates to their User Generated Content feature which allowed users to create and upload their own missions onto the inFamous 2 and Festival of Blood game servers. They added enemies and environmental additions such as cars, trees, and other stuff to help with the gameplay. They added all of this stuff for free for users. Some game companies still do it for the fans instead of the almighty dollar, but those companies are few and far between and the numbers are dwindling daily.

I use to be a loyal customer of games created by capcom but their obession of paid DLC started to alienate me. i think smaller companies are the ones who usually gives out free dlc. I think a free dlc will develop customer loyalty. I am familiar with Cole Mcgrath cos he is a Guest character in street fighter x-tekken. his electric powers seemed interesting, I might consider buying an infamous game with the feature you just talk about, that sounds like replayable value.

Paid DLC is the worst. I also remember a time before DLC existed. All games had to be heavily QC'ed before they released. If they weren't, it was possible to have a game breaking bug that would require a recall of the game to fix. Now, they rush it through QC to remove [most of] the big bugs and glitches and anything that passes through is corrected through a patch. I wouldn't be surprised if, one day, they make us pay for the patches to the game, too. My fear is when they decide to go completely digital and do away with hard copies of games that they will really tie our hands, releasing noe level at a time for $7-10 each. Before we can beat a game, they'll have dropped 18 levels at those prices. Ugh.
