I am so terrified of my "Soon to be Teen Driver" getting behind the wheel.

In a couple of years I will be faced with my 14 yr old learning to drive and getting a drivers licenses. I just finished watching a my local news where a 17 year old was ejected from the car and of course died. I began to cry and developed a cold shake. I hear of this sort of tragedy it seems like twice, sometimes three times a month, where a teen is killed in a wreck. I cannot bare the thought of loosing my child, never the less in a car wreck, where I could have prevented it by just not allowing her to drive or go anywhere with friends. I realize this may not be a option, well it is..but not a good one or even a fair one at that. So what can I do to somewhat ensure her safety? Is this a fear I am always going to have every time she leaves the house ?
