Just curious: what is the longest paper you have ever written, what was it for, and what was it about? I write a lot of papers for my Communication Arts major in college, but I have noticed that many other departments do not require this amount of writing.

I'm not sure which class it was for, but I think I had one that was about 15 pages or so. It was the final project for a graduate level class. That was hard for me because I often had trouble finding enough information. I have had to write many 3-5 page papers for my regular classes in my graduate program, but that was pretty much it. Thanks for asking!

I just recently had a 20 page paper and a 15 page paper that were due 3 days apart! I have several more 15 page papers to write this semester as well. It is surprising to me that 3-5 pages was the average, especially in a graduate program. I am still an undergraduate and am writing much more than that every week! I am jealous! haha Very interesting...
What field of study were you in?

I am studying education. I think that they want us to be able to explain what we are learning rather than doing a lot of research for things that we will never use. We also have to do two substantial discussion board posts each week and respond to at least two of our classmates. It is like here...posts have to be substantial. Only difference is, I don't get paid for those posts. I'm sure if I were an English major or Literature or something like that, the papers would be a lot longer. But there is only so much you can say about how to teach kids English. Talk to you later.

Do you happen to know how many pages 15000 words is? It sounds like a lot, but I really have no idea. When you say it was for a dissertation, I am assuming you mean for like a PhD program? If so, i am surprised that 3 pages was the norm for your papers!

The longest paper that I wrote is an academic requirement which also happens to be the two thesis for the completion of my degree. On both accounts, both papers are to be submitted as a group but 90% of those two papers were written by me. So, basically the papers are my letters and words. I had trouble writing writing those papers since I had been deemed as the writer of the group - which means I write everything in the chapter. In consideration of my former members, they were helpful in giving suggestion and ideas but I am the one who need to literary write them down and synthesize everything. Another trouble that I had is that I have to check and recheck the paper for error before submission. It's hard work especially since I am the only one doing it without any comment from another person or point of view.
Communication Arts is really all about paperwork since the subject or the field itself does not require much legwork unlike other disciplines.
