banoffee pie without condensed milk?

can't find condensed milk but would like to make banoffee pie. anyone know how to make the toffee layer without it. Banoffee Pie: crushed buiscuit, soft toffee, layered bananna, soft cream and chocolate shavings - such a delicious treat.

hmmm this is tough. I would suggest try to find a ready made toffee. It would sometimes be called Dulce de Leche.

i'll look but i've not spotted anything like it yet and the supermarkets are quite limited here. thanks for the help though.

Make your own condensed milk if you have any kind of milk in the house. Search condensed milk recipe. If you don't even have powdered milk, then I don't know, I've never heard of this pie before, but it certainly sounds yummy!
