wee see how popular gadgets more like ipad and other tablets. and I wonder if even mobile internet sales will exceed the yearly sales of pc. according to statistics that sales of pc had been dropping because of new technology.
anyways have you tried using mobile internet. I feel its more convenient to use mobile internet. there are so many applications in mobiles that makes internet use more enjoyable. I favor mobile internet than pc. as we anywhere.can bring mobile internet anywhere. its very handy .

Hi Dear Hotsummer! I agree with you that mobile internet is very convenient as we can access the internet from any place. But I think this can't replace the computer for the reasons given below:
1. You can't excess the internet from the places where your service provider don't have services to support.
2. It can't provide the same speed from every place while on move.
3.Mobile internet though may down load the data, it's utility would be limited as we don't have big storage in the mobile like in computer.
4. I always find it difficult to type on the mobile Key Pad and the efficiency is hampered on mobile phone!
5. Computer is better for aged people like me who can have a clear vision on the monitor, which other wise becomes bit difficult on the mobile screen.
6. We always have the problem of battery back up as the mobiles can't be used for a longer time on the battery. This problem is not seen on the computer as we are directly connecting it to the mains.
7. It is not practicable to go through the down loads like pages from excel or Adobe, as there is lot of text in a particular formatted design.
8. We have limitation of the screen size. Every time we need to adjust the screen i.e going to a particular site and zooming it,which is not required in the computer.
9. The mobile inter netting is bit expensive than the connections we are getting at our places through the cables.
10. Lastly we don't get disturbed by the calls and SMS in the Computer, which often we get on the mobile phones!
These are simply my opinion about the mobile phone internet ! Thanks for the discussion! I enjoyed participating in it!

using mobile every where I have access on the internet almost every where in my place or city or even outside of city proper. I will just use gprs. but at home home it's better to use wifi as it's free. I'm paying internet connection anyways in my computer which my family is using.so having a wifi I won't need to pay any monthly bill. I will just connect at my homes internet connection.

As computers get smaller & smaller, I do believe someday computers as we know it will be replaced with something we can carry easily with us. It didn't take that long before a room sized computers were replaced with desktop computers. And not too long after desktop computer came out, laptops came out. Recently, even smaller computers called "netbooks" are gaining popularities. And with Ipads & soon to come out "playbook" by RIM that can do a lot of major functions that computers can do, I don't see why we need to be tied down to bulky computers anymore.

Yes I have tried using mobile internet and I have to say that it really is convenient. You can connect to the web anywhere you may be. However, I think that having internet with your mobile device and having it to your main computer is totally different.
It is good to do searches all around but I believe that mobile devices has certain limitations. There are a lot of things that you can do with your computer that your mobile device cant. If I would have a gadget that I may bring anywhere to connect to the internet, I think that I would go for a notebook. At least with it, its just like having a real but mini version of your home computer.

in my opinion is impossible right now!!So if you refer to devices like ipad for me are really unusuful:they are just the e-reader where you can install the iphone-ipod touch apps..so?where is the deal?
as regards mobile phones..mmh..they are not as usuful, flexible like a laptop or desktop as well..
id on't know in what way people normally use their computers, laptops, desktops and so on but if you want create contents you need a laptop or desktop other mobile devices are unusuful because you can just reach passive contents...so you wouldn't be passive all your life like my grand-mother...

on ipad you can install softwares you like more as in your laptop/desktop?No.
On ipad you can edit contents as webpages, multimedia, graphic rendering and so on?No.
On ipad you make voip calls? No.
On ipad are there software compilants? No.
on ipad you can navigate on flash graphic contents? No.
On ipad in general you can't edit as on your pc..(active) but you reach your music, movies, search on the web, mails, upgrading your facebook profile, download apps, reading books(passive)...so?You can spend more than 700$ to do these simple things that you can do with your laptop, phone, desktop?mmh i think it is a waste in this sense...marketing ,marketing...

can't we use ipad for internet use. i think we can do internet surfing and posting like we do in our pc. so i don't think it is like a waste of money. but i don't like ipad and table. they are too big for taste. So i prefer my touch screen phone. it has big screen but not as big as ipad. cellphone screen size is still quite small compared to ipad or tablets. we can easily tuck inside our pocket our cellphones.

Hey hot summer,
Yeah I think mobile devices are going to replace computers well destops which will be not as common in the future I think haha . Laptops yeah and maybe some destops. For movie makers they need a lot of data and Hard Drive space and because they need power. I honestly think tablets like the iPad and andriod tablets and other tablets will advance over time and get very powerful that desktops won't nbd needed anymore or laptops. It will look like we are only carrying screens haha or huge touch screen cell phones.
They are even making cell phones powerful processors like the iPad like the sprint HTC EVO 4G phone beautiful powerful device that is extremely protable with a great size screen. As Internet speeds increase and devices get more powerful and does everything our laptop does but at a portable level and gets the job done. It will replace the old.
For example everyone had brooms and mops now they have vaccums and sweepers steam mops. That are replacing the old with better new stuff that takes less time and gets the job done right and faster.
I have a iPad and Iam using it right now and there isn't not one day I don't get on to check on my facebook get on MYLOT check my email watch a movie on Netflix see some tv shows on comcast. Play some games update my resume take notes. Text people. So much more.
With the newer iPad 2 coming out which means mo power faster and cameras which means chatting with the love ones haha lol. I love my iPad but the iPad 2 is gong to be amazing haha.. And I really want the new macbook pro I have to get my hands on one of those haha

how do you type using your ipad. do use swype program. I do use swype program when round on my touchscreen phone. how much is your ipad. but I think I cant afford that ipad. so I will just be happy with another touch screen phone with wifi worth $160 . that's perry expensive already for me. but since I do love mobile internet I plan to buy it when I have enough money. is it easy to type on ipad. for me it's important to type easily on touch screen devices as that is how I earn online. I know that ipad can replace computers. it is very light handy and can almost do every thing what computer can do. I guess it's more fun to use ipad than computers.

i think i would prefer the virtual keyboard than the real keyboard. anyways, i don't plan to buy that one as it is expensive and i can't afford. but i am just interested to know how good and useful it is. in case i happened to have enough money which i don't think will happen any time soon.

Wow, you sound interested in buying a iPad to be honest I will tell you to wait for the new model. It will be like 5 time better lol.
The touchscreen keyboard is like a noermal keyboard and if you don't like it then you can buy a case/ Bluetooth keyboard which is $100 and it's worth it haha. I do like the keyboard and i am iSight it right now it tells you when you have a error it's like a flat light computer that is very useful haha.
I also love the mobile Internet my phone and stuff love it haha the iPad replaces my laptop I still get on it now and then for flash power stuff that's like the only down side but a lot of websites are working with HTML5 which was created by apple which will replace flash player. YouTube is already done e transformation.
Overall the typing experience is very good easy and works great like a real keyboard but it's flat haha. Like a touch screen but very big and easier haha.
I think anyone can afford something they really want just take part so of your check and let it slowly build up. Like $25 one check $25 the next. Or $50 or the next $50 lol. You will have $600 the iPad right now cost $500 that low model which is 16GB with WiFi only not 3G lol. I'm sure once e new model comes out the price won't change it will just be a improvement of worth the price with a front and side facing camera and much much more.
You can do it.. I just need to get my hands on that macbook pro 2011 model coming soon hahaha

yes computer is much faster and much much cheaper now than cellphone. but because i am too busy to be able to sit in front of the computer, that i tend to favor mobile cause i can use my cellphone while busy something else like when i go out or inside the bus or train. it is not a hassle to browse using a mobile phone but laptop is very uncomfortable to use while on the go.

Mobile internet is more convenient but like the one user said, it does have limitations, as you can't play on the gaming sites like pogo, because cell phones don't have java that is needed to play them. However, flash is there to watch videos and play flash games, but nothing java. I do have a laptop, however, I don't take it outside or anywhere I go like I do my phone, as it is so convenient. I really don't think that cell phones will replace computers unless, they can do everything that a computer can do, and as of yet they can't, but who knows, it might just be right around the corner. There are tablets out there now, and they are bigger than a cell phone, and probably nice too, but I still prefer my laptop over those, and bedsides the tables are quite expensive right now, and I can't afford any of them, as I just don't have much money. Take care, and have a very good day.

what do you mean by flash and java. though i often come across them when i read it on mobile sites. but i didn't get to understand fully what are those flash and java are for.

Basically, it just means that without flash, the phone is very limited in that I wouldn't be able to play flash based games on it, and java is used on some gaming sites like pogo and others, and as far as I know, no phone has java to do that. Now there is java script bur that is different than regular java. See, your computer has both flash and java, and without it, you wouldn't be able to do everything on it that you can do. i hope I have explained it so you can understand it, even though I am not an expert in things like that.

Mobiles are certainly easy to carry around we can connect to net from any where but we can't type on it as fast as we do using key board
touch screen mobile too take some time to get a hang of those and to type special characters they take some efforts where as if you are good with typing using key board you can do all those thing lot faster
i am using both type of connection every now and then
if we keep staring on the mobile continuously our eyes start to feel the pain where as in pc you can just look here and there and type if you know the keys

but when i am tired of typing on the keyboard. i just use the touchscreen phone. and i don't need to type on my cellphone cause there is a predictive messaging on my phone where i just slide my finger across the screen to get the word right. convenient but sometimes irritating also when it can't predict the word right and show other words i didn't try to bring out.

if it does then it just means that cellphone is easier to use with much more features than pc. but for not i don't think we have reached that stage already but i am hoping it does as i am a cellphone freak.

But the limitation of screen size, cost and effectiveness of PC/Laptop remains a big concern.
IPAD and similar gadgets are very costly and out of competition with PCs. And the mobiles phones have very small screen size which can't be used for every application.
So i don't think mobile will replace internet, rather they both will compliment to each other.

maybe in the future we can do more than what we can imagine. i can pay bills using my phone, i use internet every where, i can email, check mylot every where i go without being obvious to people around me that i am using the net.

yes mobile internet will complement. specially now. but maybe just maybe feature of mobile phones will have more features and that they can invent something that can make browsing and internet experience in mobile as good as pc. but who knows. but for now pc wins hands down over the mobile internet experience.

With the fast pacing changes being made in every gadget nowadays, I can say that this is possible. And because it is mobile, you can use it anywhere and is handy too. It works as a phone too. I believe the only drawback would be the stability of the internet connection, since mobile internet depends to the signal of the network provider.

yes, but if you use a wifi phone, it will be a fast internet connection also on your mobile. but of course it depends if you have signal. but at home wifi connection wont't be a problem though.

is that so that in singapore that you are connected any where in the country. wish to live in SG then. but then again, i don't need to use the net every where. or need wifi signal every where. as long as the phone has 3g and wifi, i think i can switch in between two signals. i just like to use wifi at home because it is much faster. but anyways, there is pc when my phone grps connection is painfully slow once again.

Although this technology is in its infancy but they are indeed gaining popularity over time and I believe they will be another good alternative for browsing the net. As I can see the much cheaper versions to be a bit crude and slow but I think they will improve over time. I guess the laptops are losing their popularity when tablets are becoming popular and I think this will become a new trend in computing online.

A friend of mine has been using mobile Internet on his laptop with a dongle, and it is painfully slow in loading webpages. I would say that I have had faster dial-up connection in the past. He has now moved over to fixed broadband in his house and the difference is huge.. Unless there is some drastic improvement, mobile internet will just stay around for convenience when people are away from home from time to time. _Derek

yes it is very good to have access on the net with wifi phone. before we can not do that. we need to be in front of the computer. now while i am traveling i can browse the net. even when inside the bus. i don't need a big gadget like a laptop to browse the net. i can comfortably browse the net on my phone using gprs connection though and not wifi. but at home for faster browsing it is better to use the wifi connection. but i don't have wifi connection just yet. just am planning to buy wifi router and wifi capabled phone also. but i am still thinking about it.

In my country, the mobile cellular and other mobile device became new lifestyle. As a case in 2004 most of my friends use PC to do their work or task, but now most of them use laptop to do it. They think that with laptop is easier and cheaper, because they can access it by hotspot. Also there is a phenomenon the people in my country use cellular phone to access internet. The booming of this style happened after the social network popularity is increase.

yes more gadgets are getting better and more convenient to use than computers. it's very easy to use them and very fun to use then.I prefer the modern gadgets and new mobile releases for browsing the net than using the computer. and I think these gadgets customer less electricity than computer so we save on electric bills also.
