When you delete any txt message from your phone, is there still a copy of it out there, that others can read?, even though it has been deleted, and if so does breaking sim card make any difference?

I think it depends on your service provider. I was wondering the same thing. Once you delete a text from you phone I'm pretty sure it can't be retrieved from your phone. If the person you sent it to saves it they could show people though. I contacted verizon to ask if someone could ask for records of my text messages. I was told that they keep them for 10 days but even those are only available through a search warrant if it is required. I have a friend though whose girlfriend was suspicious of what he was doing and she paid like $85 for his transcripts of his texts. At least that is what I've heard but I don't know. I don't know who their service provider is either.

yes the mobile company keeps a record of our text messages. but they don't use them , just keep a record. i don't think they have time to go through those messages that have been sent.

If the message has been sent, then there is a record of that message on the systems that transmitted it. Not just anybody has access to it, though. It usually requires a good official reason (police or a court order) to recover it. Breaking the SIM card will have no effect. If the message has not been sent, then it can be in short-term memory on the phone but, probably, typing another message will delete it.

Thats what i thought!, basically dont txt what you dont wish to be found?, imagine txting sum1 you are going to get them, then get them even have the picture doing them, Ha, thats what sum1 in glasgow did and went to court and was sentenced to life for murder, silly or what, not to mention crazy!!

Well, there is a copy with whoever you sent the text to or on the phone it was sent to you from. Aside from that I imagine data can remain on a sim card and can probably be pulled with forensic software by people who know what they are doing.

I am not sure where the record is in cyberville! But I know in court they can obtain them when they need them for cases so I am thinking that there is a digital record somewhere. I don't think it will help to delete it. That just means it is no longer on your own phone.

It would in my cell phone but I have a blackberry so it saves in my deleted folder. So if it is not a cell phone that has this type of folder I do not believe it saves anywhere at all.

Text messages that are sent can create a record from the Official Telephone Company or Photos that are store from memory or phone itself can create a record. Phone conversation can also be included here. They call that wire tapping.

I think that some phones have this certain feature. I think it is in the log records. I have this Nokia phone before and everything comes out in the log records. Incoming and out going calls and including sms. If you have something to hide, better to know your phone well.
