I just read about this a little bit ago and my thoughts and prayers are with them. It looks like most of the modern buildings will be able to be saved but it does not look hopeful for the most historic buildings. My heart is with the people of New Zealand.

I traveled to New Zealand in 2001 and 2002. It is such a beautiful country and the people are so friendly. I feel so sorry for the people in and around Christchurch after this horrific earthquake. I await more news of it and feel sad about what has happened there.

Thanks for posting that picture. I feel bad for them, too. I wish I could donate a lot of money, but I don't have much. However, I will donate something. Maybe start a drive for them. My heart aches for them. I had an online friend who grew up in New Zealand. In fact, his name is Zealand. The people of New Zealand will be in my thoughts and prays.

I lived in New Zealand for a couple years, and it is an amazing country with very accepting people. It was very sad to hear about this in the news. I hope they recover quickly and it is not as devastating as suspected.
