Java or Symbian? Which is better?

I hope most of you must be knowing the difference between Java and Symbian phones.
Each has its own pros and cons.
JAVA:
Pros:- fast, simple, no need to install apps, can exit an app easily,virus-free.
Cons:- apps don't work in background.
SYMBIAN:
Pros:- apps can work in background, apps fully supported with less certificate errors, flexibility.
Cons:- virus prone, installation needed for apps, complex file system.
It would be better to say that Java phones are best-suited for ordinary users and Symbian phones are best-suited for professional users.

I have used both java and symbian based phones, and i like the symbian operating system coz it has got many applications and games which works in 3d and hd also, but a java system is very prone to applications crash and restrictions.So in my opinion symbian is better than java

yeah thats a great point. You can find a variety of games and apps in symbian os. But 80% of the games and apps available in symbian is also available in java.:-)

None of these operating systems aren't the best on the market...
The best OS on the market is Android which is open-source, is fully configurable by the user, with programs,games, themes and other things which can change the interface of the mobile phone...
Java based phones are the cheapest on the market, as you say, is virus-free and very very fast,and with some mods for SE(Sony Ericsson) phones you can minimize all the programs you want...
Symbian phones aren't so cheap, but i don't like this kind of OS... is so slow and full of useless staffs...
So i think java is better because i the most important thing when you choose a phone is the SPEED...

Android is of course the best os now. Its freedom of operation has not yet been achieved by other os. I hated touch mobiles before. I was fed up using a touch mobile-nokia 5233 and x6. But when i saw android i fell in love with it. It was damn simple, fast and above all easy to handle.

I am using nokia phones since 4 years now
java apps are good but i certainly like symbian apps my mobile support both but i have installed nearly all sis apps and none of the jar files
symbian apps like ucweb xplore smart movie player are the best i have not found the java version of web browser which is as fast as symbian one
opera mini is there in java version but ucweb still is the best i have seen
like these apps many games on symbian platform are much better than java like Brother in arms,Nfs, they are nice and fast games ....none of java games are better they are very boring and cool looking according to me
the main problem with java files are when i minimize them some of them automatically close so i personally don't like those

I have been a Nokia phone user for a long time already and I think that most of their phones has the Symbian operating system but still they have Java capabilities. I think that they are not comparable since Java is just like an additional feature while Symbian is what is running the system in phones.
With regards to the applications, I think that it depends on the author of it. Some applications can be installed while there are some that you just can't even how hard you try to.

I have been using both Java and Symbian. Yes, both are uncomparable. But, for the common man, I think so, Java phones are a better-go.

For me java is better than symbian. As java program's are more fast than symbian. but otherwise i think java is good for Sony Erickson,samsung and symbian is good for nokia. It's my thought I'm not sure. I'm telling it's from my experience what you guys say?
