If you now have two choices:
An administrative work. Every day, you work from 9am to 5pm. The works are not hard. But wage is low.
A job requires constant overtime, overtime may be required within 1 month. But you are getting high salaries and incentives.
Which job will you choose?

I would choose the administrative work. Actually I work exactly this, and administrative work, from 8.30 am to 5 pm, and the salary is not that much, but it's five days a week and the days off are fixed. Well, the salary is not enough, of course, if I want to be able to afford some extra stuff I'd like to buy, but it's enough to pay the bills and to make a relatively decent living. But also it's not a reason sometimes to look around and search for an alternatives such an overtime within a couple of months. It will do me some good.

It's rare for one to become rich just receiving salary. That is why a lot turn into putting up their own business, because your income could be high, much higher than if you're just a paid employee.

Income from salary is stable. So, we maybe don't worry about monthly bills. But we can be more richer with the salary, right?

Exactly, that's why many people tend to accept other jobs and activities given, in order to raise their income and achieve kind of a more decent living. Sole salary is never enough to make anyone rich, just to pay the bills and from time to time buy some chocolate or pizza...

First of all. Are you single? Do you have a big family with children?
Are you a parent with a spouse and children, the adminstrative work with 9 am to 5 pm give a safe and secure life pattern to know your working hours. You will manage with a low wage. Are you single without a spouse and have no children the job with high slaries and incentives would be good. You can make good money for good living and save money for future days. Getting incentives can be very stimulating to climb on the career ladder to reach for top positions. you have to make your best choice for you. What will make you happy.

Thank you QeeGood.
I'm single now. And I need money. But I'll get married on August of this year. So, I'm choosing between 2 jobs. It's hard for me.

Being single and getting married I would discuss it with my becoming spouse. Just to know my significant other's point of view. Out from it I would make a decision. I would probably go for the high salaries and incentive work with over time to make as much money as possible. Still taking care of my healthy to have the strength to manage all over time work. After the marriage I would try to work less over time or spread them out the over time on certain days so the weekends would be free for building up a family life.

I would choose the job that I am required to work 9 am -5pm. Even if it offers a lower salary or wage, yet the task or work is not that hard as you mentioned. Besides that, I can find some part time work after office hours or manage to go other places or relax. Rather than the latter job which you are required to work overtime though there are incentives and high salary. The incentive and high salary is equivalent to your over time work, but it is not negotiable or fair. You are paid for that excess work and the time you are supposed to be at home.
I would prefer taking a part time job or online job to fill in my extra time than doing the same job.

For me, choosing a job depends on what really is your passion. There are some people who enjoy working with little wage because they like the job and it's aligned with their interest. They wouldn't mind the low wage because overall, they are happy with what they do. There are some also who don't mind the constant overtime for the same reason -- they like their job and are happy with what they do.
In my case, I like an administrative work. I wouldn't mind the low wage at all. I really like doing paper works, booking flights, taking schedules, etc etc! ^_^ Also, I can have more quality for myself and my family because I only work from 9am-5pm and don't have to work on weekends. No pressure. No stress! :) And who knows, I may be able to find a part-time job which I can on weekends for additional income.

I agree with you. Right now I'm still not doing the job that I actually like. Many of us are suffering from jobs that we don't like just in order to survive in this crazy world. However, we must not let our dreams shrink and we should always pursue our passion. Yes it's hard, but not impossible

Life is harder and more stress than we think. When I have just graduated from university, I think the same you too. But now, I must worry many things for my life and my family, so I sometimes must pass my passions. That's life in fact!

I will choose that which will give me happiness. If I like both jobs, or on the opposite, if I hate both jobs, I will choose the one that pays high salaries and incentives.

It's a hard choice to make, right? Especially for those with families - young kids, particularly. It all boils down to what are your priorities in life, how good are you in managing time, and how well do you cope with pressure.

We work because we need money for our life.
It's hard to find perfect in our job. If I choose the job which is higher salary, I may be tired and don't have much time for my family and friends.
If I choose the opposite job, I won't have enough money for the bills and to go out with my friends

In my opinion, how will I enjoy having high salaries if I don't have time to enjoy it. Maybe I'd prefer having an administrative work. Too much work like having so much overtime affects our health as well. So again, how will I enjoy it if the money goes to paying my hospital bills and medication.
I think the first option will work fine with me. What's important for me is the kind of environment where I think I can work well.

How do you think if I choose the higher salary job? After I earn enough money, I'll leave it to find an administrative work?

Dear Tkonlinevn! I wish I had an administrative job, where I could work from 9.00 to 5.00 and I had two weekly offs! But then it is a dream now for me as I am a Stud Vet working on a Stud Farm in the capacity of Senior Resident Vet which makes me to stay on the farm all the 24 hours and I may get the call to attend at any time. Thus I never get a free time or the time without any tensions. It happened several times in my life just before leaving for some important job I get some serious case and because of that I had to postpone my work!
Though on paper I have weekly Offs etc., but when it comes in practicality I hardly can avail these Offs as I am practically tied up with some or other task to be performed as I need to look after 350 horses spread across about 150 acres of land! Though I don't have any complaints about this job as I am passionate about my job and I thoroughly enjoy it and it is providing me everything like name, fame and money, some times I really get bored with the routine work and sometimes it becomes to pressure on the mind as the horses I am dealing with are pretty expensive ones! And under such circumstances I really feel that I should have had a White collar job and I would have enjoyed it!
But the fact is I know the white collar jobs are not for me that is the reason though I had opportunities to become a professor, a Insurance Company Manager, a Bank Manger etc. I simply said no to these jobs as I can't sit at one place and work and I always like to take new challenges of practical nature in the life!
So in nut shell, I am happy with my present job which is a all 24 hours one, when I get really bored with the commitments I feel like having a white collar job, which I know is not a job of my liking at all! LOL!
Thanks for the discussion, I liked participating in it!

Hi my friend. I can see that you love your job very much. And you're happy with it. I think that you found a suitable job with yourself. It's really good.
I feel that it's hard to look for a job which I love and I can get high salary. I don't know why. But I think that you're very lucky when you can find your present job.
Wish you happy with it for a long time. I feel interesting when I heart about your farm. I wish I can be here now

Tough choice... I think I would pick the administrative work and look for a new job while I'm still getting paid by that company. I don't think I could work over time all the time and is so on such a tight scedule.
Actually, it is exactly what I encountered before, I was hired to be in the public relation department, I had to work late because I had to socialize with all the clients but I was getting good paid + bonus. Then I gave up on it because I ws not satisfied with the time at all... so I foudn another job as a secretary, the time was from 9am - 5pm, weekends off, the paid was just a little lesser but I felt much more comfortable with it.

Yes, you're right. If we work much for a long time, we'll feel tired and we'll want to take a rest. You're int his situation.
We can't work hard for a long time, right? So, should I choose the job which I can work stable?

The choices are: Admin job and what else?Choose a job you like, that is based on your PASSION. Salary is important, but if you are not happy doing that job, despite the high salary, you will feel tortured. I am now a freelance teacher and writer, used to be a reporter after I graduated, then started teaching English around 8 years ago. Last year, I got a job in British organization as front liner. I tried, but I couldn`t stand sitting in front of the computer and answering the phones all the time. During teaching, I meet lots of different people, interact with them and there is always a challenge. The salary in that foreign company is high, but I know it is not my soul. I stayed only for 4 months then I quit.Doing writing, teaching and voice-over job is more my passion rather than work 9 to 5 as admin. I am not that organized to be admin staff LOL.

You should pick whichever job you would enjoy more. If both are the same, you would probably pick the one more in line with your priorities. If time with your family is more important, you should pick the lower paying. If money is more important, you would pick the higher paying. I would probably pick the higher pay. I don't have a family, so overtime would be no hardship.

For me an administrative job IS hard work. I hate to organize things, and repetitive tasks make my brain freeze. I'm horrible at it, and I'd soon prove my incompetence. It's the worse type of job in the world for me. So if I were given an alternative, any alternative, I'd choose it instead, no matter how much overtime would be required of me.
But if I had to chose between a job I like and one that I don't, but it's better paid, I'd pick the first without a doubt in my mind. Not having a family to support allows me to do this.

I would choose for the job that pays best. Might sounds greedy, but I'm that kind of guy that doesn't want to have to be cheap on things I really want. I just want to be able to get what I need and get it good.
My grandpa used to say, if you do it, do it right, or don't do it at all. He always inspired me.

I think that I will go for the administrative work. I do not need so much money. Maybe I will settle with this job and have another job online. This way, I could plan on things like vacations for the family. I think that we should have time for everything. We should budget our time for work and play. Besides, we work for the family right? So why not just work and be with the family after?
For a family to work, I believe that quality time should also be given aside from the money that comes in thats needed for everyday consumption.

This would actually be a hard decision for me. I would like the 9-5 hours, but from past experience, these types of administrative jobs tend to be boring. I would assume that the higher paid job with the better incentives would be more challenging, which could be a good thing. I tend to get bored very easily, so I would probably enjoy more of a challenge, although I wouldn't like the over-time if I were not getting paid extra for it. This is one reason I don't really want a job where I am on salary whether than getting paid by the hour.

I think I would prefer the consistency of a 9-5 job even if the money is not as high. I don't mind occasional overtime, but I don't think I would want to have to worry about the unpredictability of a job where I didn't know if I could make other plans because I might have to work late today. The money would be nice, but I think I would rather pick up a second job to give me some variety.

It's not an easy decision to make, but it depends on factors. Do you have a family - husband/wife and kids that you need to support? Are both jobs something that you like to do? Do you have jobs lined up? What kind of lifestyles have you been engaging in? And tons of other questions.
Bottom line - is the money really important? what kind of situations are you in?
