Do you know that Shawshank Redemption collected 18m against its budget35 millions.Even though reviews were good for it, it didn't do well at the box-office. But after some 6 months of it release, the movie got huge response.Word by mouth spread slowly and the demand for the movie DVDs is more now. This is just an example. My question is why movies like these dont get huge collections at box office???

Well, maybe it's because of the financial situation when that particular movie was out in the theater. Like for example, there is a recession, and there's a movie that showing in theaters right now. Do you think, people can afford watching movie instead of buying foods for their family? So i think, that is one of the fact, financial problem.
Even a good movie cannot get a huge impact in box office bcoz it.
However, when the DVD copy of this movie is released in the market, people can save money and buy DVD's instead.
