a few days ago my windows xp started acting really strange.every now and then it would say explorer.exe problem the memory could not be "read" or "written".i searched the web and did what it said to do something with registry(to copy explorer.exe and rename it,then open something else and rename that the name u gave to the copy of explorer.exe)i did dat and restarted,NO ICONS OR TASKBAR APPEARED,not even the right click thingy.i tried to fix the thing ive done,i deleted the copy of explorer i made, but to get to the program i probably screwed up i need the "run" option from the start bar,but there is no start button! HELP!!!
P.S. i'm using the internet cause i opened my documents from the task manager(ctrl+alt+del) and found google chrome in it

It is always tricky to mess with the registry. Sounds like your Windows Explorer is MIA which is why none of your Windows-based files or functions is opening. Have you tried starting in Safe Mode? Have you tried to restore?
You said you renamed a copy of explorer.exe, than renamed something else. What was the something else you renamed? You deleted the copy of explorer.exe, but did you rename that 'something else' back to its original name?

What are you trying to start from Run?
Open your Task Manager Applications New Task (at bottom). That will take you to Run.
If it has anything to do with the previous method you tried of renaming explorer and the shell file, it won't work until you restore the copy you deleted, because you have renamed an important file, which presumably still bears the 'new' name.
Do you have the help link you used which told you what files/apps to rename?
Just to check all possible solutions --
Have you tried booting from last-known good configuration?
Restore?
Do you have the XP CD? You can try to run a Windows Repair.
