Make others know what this bad experience feels like??

When you go through a bad experience, are you more likely to make others go through the same so they know what it fells like, or are you going to prevent others to experience the same?

I cannot actually prevent others from having this bad experience like mine because they are the one who make the decision for themselves. Maybe what I can do is warn them of what could possibly happen and how it feels then it's up to them if they still want to experience it. I can make myself an example and it depends to them whether to follow my example or not. Yes I'll try to persuade them of course but I guess that's the most I can do.
