My motto is to learn from the past, live for the present and plan for the future--live each day as if it will be your last but assume it won't. More importantly sometimes is assuming everyone around you is living their last day--then you won't let anything go unsaid that should be.

I am giving full importance for "PRESENT" only. Because past is the not in our hand, its like a dream. We can not predict the future, we have no guarantee for future. The only golden gift is present. So i m preferring the present only.
But, the past is the basic. Future is the strength to move forward.

Nothing happens by chance. The past determines the present, and the present-the future. The man is one who goes through all this, choosing his path, having free will given by the Creator. This past regrets many times by us, because we have not yet return. Is lost during the past memories, far away. To choose the best way of time, because all we have to face, but only temporarily, and the last to be aware that we can not have him. So, who are anxious to regret the past, losing present, and threatens the future.

Hi savypat, I treat all the past as good lessons. I would like to learn from the previous experience. I try not to recommit the same mistakes again. I keep those beautiful and sweet past moments as a precious remembrance.
To me what I possess at the moment is the most important. I have my present daily. Though what the so-called present we own is endless so we have to cherish it. And don't let go our present life easily without any fruitful harvest. We will regret when it had become the past which will never come back again
Happy posting and have a nice day

Past and present is equally important. The past has given me a lot experiences which set the foundation for the present. Without the past experiences, I would probably still be living in darkness and no progress for the future.

That is so true! I am one of those people who hang on to relationships and situations from the past and that are way over their due date. For example until recently I was holding on to the hurt from a break up that occurred, wait for it…eighteen years ago! I was treated very badly and hurt a lot; my life had certainly moved on to happier things but the pain was still raw and I was allowing the person I broke up with to affect my life in a negative way. The past is just that the past and after we have learnt our lessons the wisest thing to do is let it go...

Pat-
To borrow a phrase and change it to fit I would say one should be mindful of the past but not at the expense of the present moment. I agree that we should all live in the present moment but we can learn from the past. Yes, we should not dwell on the past but if we do not learn from the past and continue to make the same mistakes the present has no bearing either.

I definitely think the present is the most important. Dwelling on the past doesn't get you anywhere. Sometimes there are some fun memories from the past that you may enjoy re-thinking about but dwelling on the bad really isn't worth it. Enjoy what you have now :-) Life is good!

Look not at past with disdain, for you are what it made you. It is indeed a great teacher. The word is experience which is a part of past. Past remains with you forever, while the present is fleeting, and already the past as you finish reading this sentence.
