I love sports and believe that sport does as much to shape the minds and character of our youth as any school. I do have one concern when it comes to coaching our youth. Its been my observation that most coaches of youth sports are too concerned about winning. I am not suggesting that these men and women do not care about the children that they are coaching after all they are mostly volunteers. Winning should be the last thing on youth coaches mind. Let's face it, losing is just as much a part of development as winning. Teamwork, respect, discipline and determination just to name a few are important life skills to learn early and sport can provide this.
Coaching youth should be development first and winning last. What do you think?

I agree with you to some extent but the way sport is nowadays the money involved with winning is big so maybe on your last point I think sport shouldn't be entirely focussed on winning but it will essentially be a big part of coaching so maybe not as the last point to consider when coaching. When it comes to winning first though in sports coaching such a matter encourages youths to cheat and win anyway they can either through diving or any other form of cheating. Losing is a big part of coaching I do agree with you there as when you individually lose or lose as a team you learn from your mistakes, you can evaluate your weaknesses and so on. But a vital point in a team based sport and also individual is learning to pick yourself up from a loss, how to regain confidence which ultimately for me keeps my burning desire alive to improve myself or to at least perform to my top ability at all times.
