It's little things like this that make us question what is told to us by the government. How many people didn't even know about this without Will smith in Independence Day? It makes you wonder if this is hidden from us, what else can there be?

Actually, this is old news and I knew about this incident years ago and I didn't even have to go to the movies to find out.
But sender621, you bring up a scary thought -- that the government hid this from us? But Will Smith has enlightened the public by revealing this 'hidden secret' in Independence Day? In other words, people get their news from the movies?!
So what else is hidden from us? I don't know. I guess we'll have to watch the coming attractions.

We know enough about our solar system to know that it is not possible for an intelligent species to exist withing the system. The nearest star is 4.5 light years away so it takes light moving at 176,000 miles a second 4 year and six months to get to us. Evidnce suggest that that star does not have a planet in the zone where it can support life as we know it. Any other stars with planets are even further away. I would therefore suggest that it is so unlikely that another intelligent life form capable of making a space ship would be within a range where they could make one that would get to earth. I don't say it is impossible but that it is so unlikely that you can safely dismiss it as a probability. If something crashed at Roswell in 1947 then the explaination if far far more likely that is was something that originated on this planet.

I've actually been to Roswell. It was a cute little town. They have a nice cafe there with a huge flying saucer outside of it. The streetlights are all alien heads. They have made quite a bit of money from tourists visiting the area. There is no doubt that something happened there. They have a museum describing what happened in the area. It made me a believer!
