Why do we dream?

Don't you hate it when you have a creepy scary dream?
On the bed was my husband to the right, my son, then me on the left. So I see that there were two black smoky like figures lurking outside our window. My husband said did you see that? I turned my head toward the window, and yes, I saw it. Don't quite remember what happened next, but now we're sleeping. As I turned my body toward my son and husband, I sense like something was watching or coming over so I opened my eyes and saw that one of the black smoky like figure was floating over my husband. I swing my left arm over and told it to go away. I said it louder and louder, it didn't go. I then remember that my husband always told us when this happens, for us to say "In Jesus name, he command you to go away" So I called out Jesus name several times more. As I continue yelling and swinging my arm over that figure, I caught myself saying "Go Away" then I woke up....
When I opened my eyes for real, it was still dark out and it just gave me the chills. It took me a long while before I could go back to sleep.
To think of it, I don't recall ever having good and happy dreams. Only these awful scary one. Why is that?
Why do we even dream?

Hi cmecu: Wow that's really sad. In general I feel satisfied with the dreams that I have because they make me happy. Everybody need to dream because your brain have to keep working while you are unconscious. You can't be "totally disconnected". Just try to do some relaxing activities before going to bed. I hope this helps you to have better dreams.

Wow, this would be a Scary dream to have, and if it was me, it would make me want to Pray and ask God for protection and peace so I would be able to go to sleep. A lot of times I have dreams pertaining to situations I have been going thru, and sometimes praying about and sometimes I remember the dreams while other times I don't. But for the most part lately they have all be good which is a nice thing for sure.

Hi. cmecu6. I ask myself this same question at times. This dream was very scary that you dreamed about. It seemed like it was real! Are you sure that it was only a dream? Many times when I dream, the dream seems so real and intense. It is like it really reality and not a dream. We dream for many reasons. I know that I dream because something is on my mind. And I miss someone. I hope that you don't have anymore bad dreams again! I remember having a dream about a man coming out of my bathroom and then walking right out of my bedroom. I saw him. It was like this dream was real and not a dream. It freaked me out! Many strange things happened in this trailer when I used to stay here. I am so glad that I don't live here anymore either!

When we dresm it is our subconscious at work. Something has triggered a response and it comes through in our dreams. Sometimes the reason for the dream is clear to us. Other times we are left with the wonder of our dreams.

Dreaming is a beautiful thing, i think it brings us to awareness! Let us know whats going on with us, like if something is bothering you, it shows up in your dream! I know sometimes they can be scary but they tell us, what we really feel.

My guess for why we dream in our sleep is due to the day encountered in our mind. I noticed that I would dream of something if during the day, I am stressed or being thinking a lot. I do have creepy dreams before but what amazed me is that some of the dreams I know that it is a dream and not real. There are certain dreams that show a snapshot of the future, like a deja vu effect.

I don't really have nightmares anymore.
We have dreams to allow our minds to sort things out in our sleep.
When we dream, even day dream, of doing an activity, the same parts of our brains are active as when we actually do those things in our waking life.
I think that you should keep a dream journal. It sounds to me that your subconscious is trying to tell you something. Write down your dreams, and then go back and analyze them. Look up symbols on the internet or in a book.
A good site is dreammoods.com You just type the symbol into the little search box and there you go. Of course, it's not 100% accurate or anything, but it can help you figure out what it could mean based off of common association. Recognize patterns in your dreams, common themes, etc.

For me, i can dream to achieve my goals.
In real life dreams, i have big dreams to get.
When we work hard we definitely achieve our goals.
Every minute is valuable. Time can play with us.
If we will not work hard, then we may not reach our aims.
Aim at high...
Coming your mentioned creepy scary dreams, my father can do like that, even in the late night also, i immediately wake up them, and be normal.
Thanks for sharing
have a niceday,
God bless you.
