I was listening to the radio today when the news hit about yet another recall on their vehicles.
In North America alone, there have been millions of recalls for Toyota over the last couple of years, and it makes you wonder if you'd really feel safe buying one.
On the other hand, Toyota has built and sold over 4 million vehicles in Canada, and I guess people don't care about the recalls and continue to buy these vehicles.
However, I know for sure that I wouldn't buy one simply because of all the recalls, I wouldn't feel safe driving one after all the negative news.
Does anyone have any opinions regarding all of these recalls?

I own a Toyota truck (and have had a Toyota for 20 years) and I do care about the recalls.
The latest recall is because of accelerator pedals that can become jammed in floor mats (again), but U.S. regulators have largely cleared Toyota of electronic flaws.
Would I buy another Toyota? Yes. But I also think I would be aware if my floor mat kept sliding up against my floor pedals because it would aggravate me. As it is, in the model I drive (manual), all my pedals are well clear of the floor.

If it's not a vehicle flaw, you think it's driver error?
If it's this simple, then the floor mats shouldn't even be put into the vehicles.
I've been thinking about this for a while, makes you wonder why they would keep putting the mats in them in the first place.

No, Toyota has to be held culpable for the design. And they have accepted the responsibility. Not all cars have their pedals off the floor like my truck. There are floor mats in my truck, but they are secured from slippage by clips.
Even though my year model was not on the original accelerator pedal recall list, I was in for a maintenance check one day and a rep asked me if I was aware my truck had been recalled. I said no, it hadn't and besides, my pedals were nowhere near the floor mats, but he said we are adjusting them all, so obviously I'm not going to argue with Toyota. If they say I could have a problem, then yes, they can do whatever to fix it. I have no idea what the 'adjustment' was -- floor mats and pedal still in same place.
I did have a Toyota rep once tell me that some people will add mats on top of factory-issued mats which further aggravates and/or causes the problem, but regardless, I can't blame it all on driver error (in spite of what I think of some drivers -- but we won't go there).

Yes, I was reading about the news too. Really amazing. Racalls has been going on for a number of times already. I do not have a Toyota car at this time, but if I were to consider, I have to think twice , for sure.

I think alot of it has to do with the last recall. They have been so scrutinized, and investigated, and are afraid to let even little things go now.

I just heard this on the news. The last Toyota my husband owned was a 1995, so it was too old to have the problems they mention Now with our poor vision, neither one of us drives, so we don't have to worry about what cars we drive. God knows, we can't afford a car anyway. LOL

Once there has been a recall I just don't trust them anymore. Like with Ford and the tires. Scarey! And now with Toyota. And their parts are expensive anyway. I have never heard of any recalls with Chevy and Subaru. Those two I liek and will stay with. It is pretty important deal knowing that a car is safe.
