nonito donaire as the next big thing

fightfans was stunned when fernando montiel was sent to the canvass by a lightning quick punch by nonito donaire late in the 2nd round of their WBO and WBC superflyweight match last feb 20. even non hardcore boxig fans was amazed of how quick that punch was landed to the already quick montiel.but it was not really the one that stunned me the most.it was a question raised to me by a friend.He asked "who punches better?nonito or the legend himself manny pacquiao? is there a possibility that these 2 could meet in the ring?" i paused.not sure of what to answer.im afaid to give my comment.can anyone give light into this?

I think Manny is better based on his achievements, though I really speak too soon. If Donaire will caught up or even exceed the achievements of Pacqquiao that is the time that we can say that Donaireis better than Manny.

if i were to write 2 books each dedicated to both filipino fighters, i will entitle manny's book with "the hero,the greatest, the legend".on the other hand, when i write for nonito, i will entitle the book with "he who matched the greatest". basing from this simple comparison of book titles, it is clear that manny is not just a fighter. he is a good sportsman with the heart of a politician.nonito is a good person too but at this point, it takes a lot of hurdles he needs to surppass for him to reach manny at the top.

Manny Pacquiao is one and only. Nonito can make a legend of his own. His promoter needs to do a better job of getting him better and big time opponents. What I think is that he should go up in weight class so he does not have to starve and have a better chance of going after big names.

promoters indeed play a big role in a boxer's professional career... it is like the promoter acts as your key to a treasure chest...have you heard of the latest issue/news that nonito will switch promoters from top rank to golden boy? man that could haunt nonito in the end...i hope nonito picks the best move.

I don't think they should be compared at all..they are both great boxers and good ones too- since they are still humble. 
But i do think that Donaire is the next Pacquaio. 
I hope that both boxers would continue to be successful.

i agree bro..comparing them is unfair...they are from 2 different boxing generations.nonito is up and coming while manny is already at the top of his game..what only separates them now is floyd.floyd is at the number 2 rankings at the pound for pound list.

Yes, Nonito Donaire is truly on his way to greatness. His last fight with Montiel is one of the greatest KO ever. I wish him more success and I hope he becomes another great Filipino boxing like Pacquiao.
