Through my experience, the best way to draw your kids attention to learn language is through watching tv cartoons. They will pick up the language and the intonation of words fast. You'll be surprise how they can adapt well to learning language by sight and hearing. First you need to win their interest but cartoon is an easy bait for all kids as they can sit still in front of the tv when the program is cartoon.

Thank you for your advice. But as you know, what kind of cartoons is decent enough for a kid of 2 years old. Coud you list the titles of some cartoons?

It's really not that easy to teach kids. Sometimes their attention span is too short. They easily get distracted and want to do other things like playing with their toys instead. You really need a lot of patience when teaching your kid. You can also try to find ways to make learning interesting for him. Try to incorporate his play time with learning. Like you could teach him linguistic skills using his toys as examples.

You need patience. How old is your kid? You must not have a definite syllabus. Just take fairy tales or picture storybooks. You show the picture and repeat the small sentences. Repeat often. Repeat when you are at meals, when you are with the child playing, everywhere and anywhere but without tension. Make the child watch TV or DVD that is program for the children. Do not expect overnight results. He likes to play with the toys. Fine buy some talking toys and some DVDs and make him watch and listen every day. After sometimes you see the change. Language needs time and constant repetition
