I often ask my colleagues, working in what you're after, Career or Salary ?
Many said salary by reason of working is to earn money, but not a few who say a career, by reason increased career would automatically increase salaries as well.
I am so confused, because I think the second answer is true, but nevertheless there must be a truly better between these two options.
How do you think, whether you will choose the salary or career ?

I personally think that it depends on what a career is defined by as one can go for the money and still make a career with the job at hand as well.
So although the job may not be ideal if the person is happy with the salary they could learn to like their job and considerate it a career.
If I had to choose which I would certainly go for the higher paying.

Salary, because you can always change careers. Most people obtain work with a company so they can rise up the corporate ladder, if they don't want to climb any higher they should seek the best salary and since jobs are never secure its best to go for the most amount of money. Just remember to save what you earn in case you loose your job.

For me, I shall choose my career.
With my career, I shall seriously work and earn for my living.
I don't work for fun.
I have a lot of commitments and burdens in my life.
I really need to put in my effort to maintain my career, then only can have a consistent salary to secure my future.

At this time of my life I will probably choose salary over career. I will save enough amount of money so that in the future I can do the job that I want and love. I always wanted to be a teacher but teacher salaries are known to be really low so I decided to take a different course in college. I take some courses to get my certification to teach after I earned enough.

Choose both if you can. I guess it really depends upon the person's need.
IF a person is financially stable then most probably he'll be going
for career. And if a person is in need of some finances then he'll be choosing
salary. You see you can never really go for career if you're desperately in
need of some money. Unless you take some risk and go for what you really love.

Definitely salary for now if I was to work. I don't have any professional qualification so when I look for jobs, salary is my first priority, it would be good if I get promoted in the job and raises but creating a career is not my thing at all. My husband and our chil dis my caree is all I can tell you.

Hi aisoice: It's simple both career and salary are very important. You need some money if you want to live but life is better when you do what passionates you. So it's really important to find your career and feel in love with what you do. It helps you to earn a better salary as you have mentioned but salary is necessary. Let's face it. We need money to buy the things we need so if we can't find a proper job we should try to find something to do.

i am looking for a job for 6 weeks now and i found myself asking the same question.
all the job offers that interests me pay badly and all of the offers which pays good money are jobs that i"m not really interestd in , such as insurance sales or cell phone companies.
i think that eventually i will choose the job which is more interesting to me that pays less because i just can"t stand the thought of getting up in the morning without a smile.

Frankly I use to think career, but then again you realize that career has more obstacles (not necessarily from yourself) than you expected. Age catches up with you and you see others being groomed or taking over your role, and then you stopped to think...mmm...I should have opted more salary job if I knew better. They are right. It's just work.

In this times of crisis, we definitely need tha salary. Why choose when you can have both? The best part of having a job or a career is to love it. Think of the millions of people who are jobless. There are those who are dying to have that work of yours. So appreciate it. Love it as it give you bread and butter. :D

Glad you asked posteed this....I been trying to figure out if I should become an LPN or a Dental Hygenist. I want to be an LPN and all of my school credits are heading towards that, but I want to be a Dental Hygenist, because of the money and hours of work. If you didn't know a Dental Hygenist don't really have a fixed schedule. They usually only work days and at different dental offices because they are not needed as much. I would like to be an LPN, but I feel like that would not generate much money in the bank. Don't get me wrong, I would like and enjoy being a Dental Hygenist but I'm leaning more to that because of the money and the schedule. So the career and salary is equal, in my opinion. Thank you.

Grass looks always green on the other side, I chose career instead of salary, earlier I was quite happy but now when I see the salary of people who chose salary then at times I feel, I made a wrong choice. When you are young you love to do what you are passionate about, I chose research as career, but then end up in low salary bracket. So it is really difficult to choose.

It depends on individual thinking. For me would be career because a good career prospects makes working more meaningful. Of course the salary must be within the market rate.

If I can get both, then I will surely pick both! I believe both are equally important, but somehow I have the opinion that career-based work is better than salary-based...It is all about how you feel about your work, and it is an everyday story of people who hate their jobs...I have always believe that if you are into a job, then the salary will surely follow through because you enjoyed what you are doing, and not forced to enjoy it...Frankly, I will choose career, although salary is as important as it is...

I will choose career, because I agree that if you have an increased career you will have an increased salary. Maybe you have a high salary at the moment but when time comes if you haven't done any improvements with your career, your salary will only have a gradual increase compared to employees who got promoted in their job.

I would choose a good career. If your career is good, there is no need to worry about the salary.Well according to me, it;s like having a reputation and money at the same time.
