No, there is no way (in MyLot) to tell whether your friends are online. On the whole, I think that I'm rather glad that it's not possible and I don't miss it. I find the 'Friends online' thing in Facebook is mostly irrelevant and is sometimes not accurate (when you go to chat, it very often says that 'so and so' is offline, even when their picture is showing as online).
MyLot is more about conversations that can take place in a leisured and considered way than about 'instant' communication or 'chat', so, in my view, it would not be as appropriate as it is in other 'social' sites.

Thats the truth, the facebook chat is off on mine. I thought it was just something wrong with mine until i read your post.
Truthfully, I thought I was overlooking mylot friends feature, simply because I have not seen a site that does not have it, but you are correct, mylot is more about the conversations. Great post !

No, there is not a way for you to tell when a friend of yours might be here posting in myLot unless you just notice them posting a New discussion or posting back to a discussion somewhere recently as well. In some ways, I consider this a help because if there was Chat, etc. here this site would not be what it is, and it would be harder for some of the people to choose to help out the Newer people here, and stick to only their friends.

Very, very TRUE ! Mylot not having a friends online feature is just might be what makes it so different, so why should they ruin a good thing by adding the feature.

Hi Dear Sunshine! There is no such thing here on this forum where by we can make if our friends are on line or not!
But then if you note carefully there is time mentioned at the right side of every response or discussion initiated, which fairly gives idea that if a person is there on the line or not. The earlier the time displayed means the chances of the person on the line is more. Discussions which are aged imply that they may not be on line!
Thanks!

Honestly, not seeing a friend on mylot lately is what sparked this post, I was just sorta of worried. However, I did what you had suggested, went back and looked when her last post was.
Thanks

That feature is not on myLot. Though it would be kind of nice especially if you have pm's to that person and are expecting an answer.

Just like everything else, it would have it's pro's and con's to adding the feature.

Hello sunshine,
You've already been told that there is no such possibility here. But if you want to know about a particular friend, you can check his/her activity. You'll see if he/she responded or commented to a discussion lately and you can realize if he/she is online or not.
If you are close friends, you can also send a private message, and as soon as your friend sees it, you will know he/she is online.

Thanks.. I have already done it. I guess when you get use to seeing a friend post something nearly everyday, then all of sudden you don't see it, you start wonder if everything is alright.

I don't think mylot has that feature. You would just know if your friends are online if you saw them post/responded on something. Hahaha. That could be a good feature though. :)

I think it would be a toss up of those that would like the feature and those that wouldn't. I am just really torn on it, but really surprised that they don't already have it.
