I Find This So Annoying With Surveys

Now, I know I've said in the past that I just use MyLot and that's it but, now that I have this new computer, obviously it's quicker and doesn't freeze every 5 minutes, which is why I try to do some surveys as well. "Try" being the operative word here as I'm finding that I don't qualify for most of them. Sometimes, I will get so far with a survey then I am told that I don't meet the demographic criteria to fill in the rest of it. Another annoying thing that happens (like 5 minutes ago) are the words "we have reached the required number of respondents for this survey, thank you for your time." Does this annoy anybody else? Or am I being picky? LOL. I am convinced that I don't qualify for a lot of surveys because I don't work. It's like I don't have a brain or something or I don't have any opinions, or I'm worthless because I'm at home without any kids in tow. Is there anyone out there in the same boat as me? I don't want to lie about my circumstances but if I had done, no doubt I would've qualified for a load of surveys by now.

I'm starting to have the same problem with some of the surveys. When I first started about 10 years ago I had no problem getting accepted. But I was younger then, I owned my home and I was still working. All good things. They figure you will be among the group they are targeting. Then... I turned 50 and went beyond, even.(I'm now 57) I retired and I sold my home. So now I'm old, I don't work any more and I rent. Top that with the fact that i live in a rural area instead of a city and I'm just about off everyone's aceppted list. There are some older tried and true, really legitimate survey companies out there. They still send me just as many surveys as always. Two I can reccommend are PineCone Research and My Survey. I have been with PineCone for 10 years and My Survey nearly as long, I can't remember exactly. Some of the other places that call themselves survey companies are really not. They may be using your information to target you for sales or whatever. Another good one is HotSpex. I have had good luck with them for about 7 years now. You get amazon gift cards from them or points you can use to enter sweepstakes. I always go for the gift cards. And they are a lot of fun to do. Another site that is good, not a survey site, but easy to earn gift cards is My Points. I've been with them several years also. All of these I have mentioned are legit and good paying. With survey sites you have to be careful, do your homework and you can find the good ones.

I hate HotSpex. They're always asking how something makes me feel, or what kind of person an inanimate object might be! And then they show me pictures of robots to illustrate. Sheesh!

I know, they get a little carried away with the cutesy feel good stuff sometimes but those Amazon gift cards spend just like money

It does seem that way doesm't it? But I am always truthful when I fill out these things. I think they are looking for the younger ones because they say that's who are setting the trends and spending the money. I don't know, I think my money spends just as well as theirs. I think that even if those of us who are older don't get as many as the younger ones do we will still get them from reputable companies that are doing honest surveys. Thay may be fewer but we can count on them to be solid and trustworthy. I never have to worry about getting paid from the ones that I do.

The only survey I have completed in years is one for AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). Even when I worked I did not qualify. I had a friend a year or two ago who said they just want our demographic info, and they get it with these screeners. I am more like another poster and think it is age, or it may be my conservative location. Middle of the country middle of the road. I do not do surveys. If you want some things to do that will earn money, I will send you some links, just let me know.

The best British one I've seen is Springboard but I think I need about £30 in order to cash out. I'm nowhere near that. Also, they send me links via email. I can't just go onto the site - I have to wait for them to contact me. It's mainly politics they go on about which makes a change. A lot of them are so banal. There was an interesting one about urine leakage and what do I do about it from another survey site. It was quite funny at times. Worryingly, I qualified for that one!! Haha!

Yes, I do several surveys and I get that quite often. And I do find it annoying, but what the heck! it's pin money anyway! I've been out of work, (AKA semi-retired)for the last two years, maybe it'll be better after I "officialy" retire this summer! but I'm not counting on it.

Some of these "free competition and prizes" sites have these boxes to tick to join survey sites I'm already a member of. That can be quite annoying as well. At least we know where we are with MyLot. It still remains my favourite site.

I wish I qualified for as many surveys as I am offered. If I did I would have a lot of money by now. I dont make it to the end of many surveys so I dont earn very much. What is the worst is going through a half an hour or a survey and having it mess up so you dont get credit or simply not qualifying for the survey at that point and that whole time was such a waste. I accomplish maybe one survey every other day. A lot of effort for not much gain.

I sympathise with you as it's the same with me. I do qualify for some but they are definitely in the minority. You'd think they would know this before I got "invited" and you too, as we have better things to do don't we my friend?

I believe that survey sites are ageist. When I turned 50 I suddenly discovered that I was receiving all the messages that you get. Only one site is reliable and they only send me one survey a month. There is nothing more irritating than spending 15 minutes answering questions only to be rejected. I used to do mystery shopping too. But they only had chemists and noisy pub jobs and there's only so much cough linctus and sausage toad in the hole that I could stand! LOL.

Oh well, at least I'm not on my own. I had thought about the ageist thing (I'm 44) but surely I'm not too old? Perhaps they think I'm sad that I don't have kids or that I'm not working. It's not like I'm incapable of thought without either, you know what I mean? I've never gone down the mystery shopping route. The thing with me is I'm so honest I'd probably say "I'm a Mystery Shopper" which kinda defeats the object. Haha!

Sure! Some of us like me has to learn the hard way at least once. Sometimes i here ppl bragging about how much they are making doing this. I just look at them and say, "Oh yeah?" Coz i know they are lieing. Especially when they start nameing the same lame companies that were on that list. Ive heard ppl here in mylots do it it. Maybe 2 $1. checks in years is alot to them.

I can understand your concerns over this and it's never a nice feeling to be scammed. It has happened to me but not over surveys, it was something else. I've also had my account hacked online for a much bigger amount recently so I know where you're coming from. At least MyLot is legitimate and Admin do try to weed out the scammers. The best thing to do is to avoid discussions like that in the first place..but it is difficult.

I know what you mean about when it says about reaching the number of respondents and then when you do a few questions and then dont qualify. Dont think it has anything to do with not working, I work and get loads of offers but when it comes to completing them it doesn't usually happen for some reason so dont take it personally :-)

To be honest, I'd rather be rejected at the start than at the end..but I know what you mean..and why should age or the fact I'm not working have a bearing on anything? It doesn't make any sense. Perhaps I should set up my own survey site for people who have got rejected from other survey sites. What could we ask questions about though?

I do surveys with an Australian site that has been around forever taking stats on this and that. They have been around longer than online surveys have and they are a good company. They do not pay in cash, but in reward points which I redeem for shopping vouchers. But I have a similar problem to you and even more so in recent times. I get the same errors as you at least 50% of the time. Sometimes it is because they do not support my operating system. I could go and do it on the lap top with Windows, but that is too much of a hassle mostly. Other times as soon as I type in my location as being regional and not a state capital, then it tells me where to go! Other times they ask me straight up about buying a certain product from a list and when I tick the none of the above box they tell me where to go. It is not my fault that I am not a mass consumer of crap foods! "Do a healthy survey for once" I scream at the computer! Once I did lie as I was fed up with being rejected.

I've tried lying (only the once like yourself) but that didn't work either. That suggests to me that the site remembers our entries, so why do they ask the same f*cking questions. Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Anybody who has done surveys has been screened out or the survey has been closed or enough respondents have replied. When it happens one after the other, it is annoying making you think, "WTF? I must be some clueless airhead whose opinion doesn't matter!" I have learned that usually the companies that send you daily surveys are hit-or-miss and 99.5% of the time, you 'miss'. There are other companies that you may rarely hear from, but when you do, you almost always qualify and get paid immediately, such as Pinecone or ACOP. I've also noticed surveys seem to go in cycles for demographics. In January, I was scarfing up the surveys and cranking out the bucks, but this month, I have not yet reached ¼ of what I made last month. It is also important to fill out all the personal info in your profile, so you DO get surveys targeted for your demographic. Surveys aren't for everyone. You do have to learn which ones seem to cater better to your demographic and weed out the ones that are a waste of time. I've got my proven favorites, but I've kicked others to the curb, too.

Cycles, eh? How interesting. I've only been doing this for a short time so I'm just finding my feet, so to speak. I don't even know why demographics are so important, anyway. I mean, they're not on MyLot are they? Everyone here has a unique opinion about something or other, why can't that apply to surveys? Perhaps I'm being too simplistic. In fact, I KNOW I am. Haha!

Um...yeah...I think demographics are a little more important with surveys than myLot. I seriously doubt a company that manufactures anti-wrinkle cream for post-menopausal women is going to take the opinion of a 20-something male very seriously. Whereas, if some 20-something male uses post-menopausal anti-wrinkle cream, that might make for a verrry interesting discussion on myLot.

Oh, this happens to me a lot too, but I just move on. Sometimes I participated in surveys that takes forever and I quit in the middle. I wish it would just say that I'm disqualified. I prefer survey that is short rather than takes more than 20 minutes or so unless if I'm really dedicated to taking surveys, which I'm not. G.

Hi garson! I know what you mean..it's not as though they haven't got our details aleady is it? Asking the same questions over and over again, it can get a bit tedious..only for me to get rejected a quarter of the way through! When a survey DOES come along that I can participate in, it makes my day, it really does, especially when it's something I'm interested in. Sad aren't I?

I also find this very trying. I waste 5-10 minutes on a survey just for them to tell me that I don't qualify. Then why did you have me here this long. After 1 minute they should know whether they want you or not.

The "Roboform" application speeds things up considerably as it remembers what I type..but only at the beginning of course. I still have the same problems as before in that I don't qualify for whatever reason. I agree that it should only take a minute or so for these survey people to know if we qualify or not. The same questions come up each time, it can get rather tedious answering them, only to be rejected anyway. How annoying!

This is why I think they are just mining your information to be used for other purposes. Any legit survey will let you know real quick if you do not qualify. Most of the ones I use will send you a short qualifier to start with to determine if you are qualified. No beating around the bush.

That's the way surveys are. They only want a certain number fitting a certain criteria...that's mostly gender & age. I used to collect surveys in the field, going door to door. What annoys me is they say it's really important to keep my profile up to date so they can target me with relevant surveys. So how come they send me surveys which don't fit my profile??? The other side of it is they ask me the demographic questions then say,: "Will you be buying a car in the next 2 years? "Will it be new or used?" I answer these and then they tell me I don't qualify yet I have just given them vital statistics that they can build on. They have the info that one 55+ yr old woman living in country NSW will or will not purchase a second-hand car within 2 years. Put the numbers together and it might turn out something like : of the 60 women aged 55+ in country NSW 12 will be purchasing a new car in the next 2 years and 3 a second-hand car. But I get nothing because I've been screened out.

I know exactly what you mean as that has happened to me. I am asked specific questions at the start, I'm then accepted and proceed to answer the questions that follow the first set of questions lol. Then, right at the END (not the beginning) I'm told that they've received their quota of respondents. HUH? So why did I have to answer all those questions thinking they hadn't? So annoying!

Perhaps it comes in cycles, as someone else suggested in this discussion? It's a possibility as, even though MOST surveys I don't qualify for, I have qualified for half a dozen or so, and they all seem to come along at once. Then I'll have another few days of not qualifiying and the cycle starts again.

Janey. I really don't think it's cause you don't work because when I tried to do the survey thing a couple of years ago, the same thing would happen to me and I worked full time. I honestly think its an age thing cause when I would put in my proper age it would tell me the same shi* that they had the required need etc etc, but when I would make myself 20 years younger, I would almost always get accepted. Try that..I don't bother with them anymore because I don't have the patience to sit for 20 minutes answering the same questions just worded differently over and over. too much time for too little money, and thats if you get paid. Not for me..

I find it annoying also. Sometimes after I have put some qualifying info in I will get a message that the survey is closed. Why don't they say that at the start. Sometimes I will also be told in the first screen that I don't qualify. Then why send it to me? I don't work and don't have a husband or kids, so I am rejected for a lot of surveys. I also don't have a cell phone or diabetes and I get a lot of surveys for that. I agree that if I lied about my circumstances I would qualify a lot more.

Yes, I find it annoying too when I get the message that a survey is closed. I agree with you, we should be told right at the start so we're not wasting our time. I have a feeling some of the sites "remember" our details. If I started saying that I have diabetes now when before I didn't, I reckon that would be rejected as well. Having said that, I chose to be honest right from the start and that doesn't help either. Can't win whatever I choose to do!

I've been doing surveys for several years, and, yea, it is very hard to qualify most of the time. However, there are some sites that have been mentioned in other comments that are good. I do earn money from about 5 or 6 survey sites, and I will keep using them. Of course, there are scam survey sites out there, but they are easy to spot. I NEVER, NEVER pay any money to any survey site to take surveys. I'm not gonna get rich doing surveys, but I do get paid. I think it is an age thing. I remember hearing one time that Pinecone research was seeking members in an age group that was between 25 and 39. I think a lot of older people try to take surveys, and that category fills up fast. Try the ones mentioned in another comment. They are all good ones.....good luck.
