Oh sure Im open minded

I think of myself as being open minded. I dont get offended by little things and I try not to judge others and accept others as they are. I thought I was open minded until I saw a picture of Elton John with his baby I try to look at the positive side of it. The baby will have everything it needs for a great future. I try to convince myself that Elton will hire a nanny to care for the baby, so he'll be well taken care of. I try and try but for some reason, it gives me the creeps. NOT because he's gay, that doesnt bother me at all. But something is making me very uneasy to look at him with a baby. The word "pedophile" keeps flashing in my mind and I hate myself for thinking that way. Am I the only one to find this a bit..........weird?? Please try to change my mind because I want to think that everything is alright!!

HI Magical, I have to say that Pedophile did not enter my mind when I learned of Elton John finally being able to be a dad. I think he'll be a wonderful dad. I think the only thing that I questioned at all was his age. Still he is young at heart and seems really healthy so I just wish them the best. If anyone can help the baby overcome the stigma of having gay parents, Elton can.

Aww, I was not sure just how old he was but knew that he had to be right up there. I was a teen when he first hit it big. I know he has a big heart and all but 63 just seems a bit old to start a family. He is such a young spirit so I really hope it all works out for them.

Sid, Topffer, I found out why I felt that way. To begin with, it wasnt because he's gay. It had to do with the fact that he's getting old and looking more and more like one of my uncle who was a pedophile. So thats why it felt weird to me when I was looking at him with a baby in his arms. But it was great to write this and put it all in perspective. Thanks!

I was thinking the same : if I have to blame him, it is for having a baby at 63 years. I know that some older and non gay male celebrities did the same, and I always found this at least a bit selfish.

I also consider myself open-minded and try as much as I can noyt to judge others by appearance,religoius or political views and so on,and I don't mind the fact that Elton John is gay,it's his life and he has the right to live it the way he wants,but seeing him and his partner ith a baby is a little creepy,so I completely agree with you,it is weird,and to whom of the two will the child address as 'mother?'.Anyway,I don't think there's too much to worry,even it's weird.I'm sure he will only love that child as his son and not in any other way.

You put your finger on it. It has to do with how he looks. I say this because after having a talk with my sister last night, we both agree that as Elton ages, he looks more and more like one of our uncle. My uncle was a pedophile, so that might explain why it felt weird to me. So it has nothing to do with Elton!! Thanks!

I thought he had a child from his previous marriage. I can't find anything on it online, but someone told me that "Your song" was dedicated to his kid from his previous marriage, but I can be wrong. And no, I don't feel that it's weird at all, I don't know why you find it so weird. Why?

I'll tell you why I find it so weird and I found out only last night as I was talking with my sister. As Elton is getting older, he looks like one of my uncle who was a pedophile. So thats why I felt it was weird, not because he's gay .....has nothing to do with it. Thanks!!

Do you think he is pedophile at this case? He might molest that poor little child when he grows up? I don't know, but he might have a great future as you just mention it. So, you don't have to worry a thing. God will make this justified.

I had a weird feeling about him and I found out why. As he gets older, he looks like one of my uncle and that uncle was a pedophile. SO thats why I felt weird looking at him with a baby. My mind played tricks on me. Thanks, Im sure God will look over them.

Lol i couldn't stop laughing when i saw "pedophile" i honestly dont think Elton John would do something like that (but you never know). But that is kinda uneasy for me to see too. Im very open minded and have A LOT of homosexual friends but for some reason i think its really really weird for 2 men or 2 women to raise a child normally. I just cant get over how many questions the child would ask or if the child would grow up strange watching two men or women kiss or having questions to ask his/hers teachers. I dunno... i have nothing against homosexuals but i think a child should be raised by a father and mother i think a child's mind is too fragile to cope with something like that..

Sorry for taking so long to reply and im happy I could make you laugh some lol. The neighbors across the street are gay. One of them has his son living with them. His son is mentally challenged and nobody can tell if it affected him or not. He is very well taken care of. Well dressed, well fed, they take him places and he seems to be happy. OF course, theres no way to know for sure!! I can only hope this baby will be happy. Thanks for sharing!!
