Yes, this movie,'The Last Station' is one moving biography. It centers on the last years of the live of the Russian author, Leo Tolstoy. He sets himself a sanctuary where people who believed in his ideals came to work for him.
His message was not easily understood. Many wanted his works to be distributed free to the Russian people . This was the dream of his best friend, Chertkov. As such, they tried to get the publication rights away from the countess.
The mistrust between Tolstoy and the countess made up the bulk of the sorry and plot.
Well edited, it is one good biography to showcase the life of Tolstoy especially at the last train station while the world waits for his imminent death.
Tolstoy's perception that every religion is driven by love is most profound!
See the movie to know more about Tolstoy.
Christopher Plummer did a good job as Tolstoy while Helen Mirren was great as the Countess Sofya. James Avoy as Valentin was highly emotional.
