Is Facebook a new addiction for teens?????
Recently the growth of facebook has compelled the over growing number of teens across the world! Recently the movie "Social Network" was released which showed the story behind facebook. Facebook has over millions of users right now and thousands are joining each day. Parents complain that facebook has been the main distraction for teens. Each day when a teenager returns from school, their first job is to log into facebook and see if they got amy notifications or messages. Yes we do agree fthat feacebook helps to unify many people across the globe but still the question that lingers on is that is facebook the reson why the education/knowledge level of teens are going down...SO IS FACEBOOK AN ADDICTION?

Hi. zabahq1310. Welcome to myLot! I believe that many teens are addicted to Facebook. I also believe that many of these teens grades are going down because of them being on Facebook a lot too. I have a first cousin that is in high school, and it seems like logging onto Facebook is about the first thing that she does when she comes home from school. I look at the clock, and it is around the same time that she has just gotten out of school. And, I am thinking, Wow! My cousin does not even try to do any of her homework, she just jumps onto Facebook and start getting caught up into making many posts and having fun with her friends and family members. I believe that Facebook has a lot to do with why teens are not doing well in school. This is only for the teens that have an addiction to Facebook only. For other teens, it has to be something a little more deeper that is causing them to have failing grades.

Now a days many people join in facebook, it seems like facebook is the most famous social network site. Many of my friends have joined in facebook recently within this 1 year, i also use facebook but i don't use that often, i use just one a day and see my friends updates. Many people dont even use it, they just keep on adding friends but do not talk to anyone. I have still not seen the movie Social Network, so i don't know about it.

Facebook is an addiction for an age. I am always checking my facebook. I havent seen the new movie. I would say fb is an addition, especially since you can have updates sent directly to email, or mobile phone.

Yes, I do think facebook is an addiction. Not only do kids come home from school to check your page, but alot of them have it on their cell phones so they can recieve notices for messages. When that is the first thing a kid does than they are addicted. What happened to going outside and being active. More people spend their time on facebook than they do anywhere else. It has to be one of the most common websites. Yeah facebook helps unify people across the globe and that is nice and all, but more people are spending their time talking to people across the world rather than going out and meeting new people.

O Yes. Facebook is the most talked of, most visited social network site by all and many teenage boys and girls. I saw two reasons behind it. And then I shall tell you in end of the para, reason behind these reasons i.e. why teens are mostly attracted to it!
So the reasons: One that there are many celebrities on it which make it an attraction to add oneself as another member there and then they get license to interact freely with those unreachable personalities also. This is very very satisfying and hence addictive also.
The second reason is perhaps the desire to communicate with the community. Sharing all about your life and listening to others also is the nature of humans. Waht best mode could be when you may display what you are, what you were doing these days - photograpphed, and ofcourse your genuine view points. All that is easily available on Facebook. Youths do a lot and share a lot also frankly with their friends, many things personal also. That is natural and this place facilitates them do it wholehog.
You know, the teenage has many problems. Psychological problems. The feeling of aloofness, loneliness is at height. They need company, which in today's world, in own family is rarely available. So the best place they find is Facebook type of sites, where they may sit for hours and get many many to accompany them.
The other reason is getting direct access to celebrities. That excitement is unmatched. And then they get next day's gossip subject where they proudly claim Amitabh Bachchan shared this and shared that with them. Yes they are addicted.

I go addicted to facebook before, but it's getting bored. I still using facebook these day to keep in touch with my younger brother, i lives in different country, by checking their status, i know how and what they are doing. As you mentioned above, true indeed that now days peoples can not live without facebook, when they wake up first thing they do is checking facebook, when they eating, while in duty. In some country using facebook in some places is prohibited, such as in office, working for government, and funny things most of the employer git fired and got warning because posting inappropriate status about their job, their boss.
