Gay teacher!?We are going to have a debate regarding this topic. Do you agree to have a gay teacher in elementary and secondary level? For me, yes since i'm in the pro.. IS it beneficial, practical or necessary???

The main reason there is a taboo against gay men being around children is an incorrect assumption that gay men are all pedophiles.
Statistics have shown, however, that strait men are more likely to be pedophiles than gay men by far.
Because of this ignorance, where I live, I am not allowed to adopt or foster children. This is STUPID!!!!! There are so many children in need, and yet society feels the need to ban one out of ten adults from taking in children who need a home. And people seriously suggest that I should not be allowed to teach either?!?!?!?!?! Really? I like kids and they like me. I don't want to teach but for the love of pete, why the hell should I be banned?
What happens in the privacy of one's bedroom has no bearing on their ability to teach or to parent.

Well Jujubeez,
Where i live , you can not adopt children if you are not married, doesnt matter if you are male, female, gay or anything and then also if there is minimum number of years have passed by after your marriage and you still can not have a baby of your own, only after that you are allowed to adopt children.

Here, gays are not allowed to marry. Kinda makes it impossible to adopt by that standard.

Hi kramsgir,
Frankly speaking i am not against Gays or lesbians. I am always pro choice and if a person is gay or not doesnt matter to me , but when it comes to teacher , they are the one who has future of small kids in their hand and the small kids are like clay which they can give any shape, so if it is my school , i probably wouldnt hire gay teacher.

as i said i dont care if you are straight or not. To me as a person what you are matters but for being a teacher there are different standards because when you are little different from rest of society then people try to justify their differenceness from others and this thing atleast me dont want to be discussed in front of delicate children

Article II Section 3 in the code of ethics for teachers:
In the interest of the State and of the Filipino people as much as of his own, every
teacher shall be physically, mentally and morally fit.
If the teacher shows decency in his words or actions regardless if he is g@y it should be fine.
