I think it's a bit unfair to be try to become healthy. You eat and drink healthy food. You work hard to lose weight. You exercise even you don't want to. But in the end, you sometimes don't have a say. No matter how healthy you want to be, you can't control hereditary diseases. What do you think?

True you cannot control all the risks of illness, sbut wouldn't it be better to face these with as healthy a body as you can get instead of adding stress to your body by living in an unhealthy way?

on one level when you are enjoying yourself you are relieved of stress but at the same time when you eat ice cream which is full of sugar and saturated fat you are stressing your body. Why not find something that is enjoyable and not harmful to your body?

Yes, it is a choice. We are all given freedom, the freedom to choose. And having good health is a choice for all of us. An option. But sad to say, many people don't choose it.

Hi Nick,
We are what we put into our bodies. By eating a balanced diet we can certainly help our health. But we can never over come all health issues, in the air are viruses and as you say, hereditary illnesses also play a part in our health.
But, our bodies need to accept some illnesses to be able to build up its immune defences. Living in a sterile bubble would only do us more harm trhan combating the illnesses out there.
If we lead a healthy lifestyle, even some hereditary illnesses can be kept at bay. Also, if we need an operation or hospital treatment, a healthy body will recover a lot quicker. But in life today there are so many unhealthy options facing us it is not always easy to opt for the healthy lifestyle. Fast food outlets are convenient and sometimes we don't have the time to choose healthy.
Keep up the healthy lifestyle where possible, with a daily exercise routine, later in life I am sure you, your body and your health will benefit.
