What do you have to do on odesk? I tried mturk but I really had a hard time and hated it. I am going to try a different task there to see if I can find something that I like but I am not really enthusiastic about it. Is odesk similar?

Odesk is a site where employers and employees meet. The employers post jobs and the employees/contractors apply for jobs pretty much in the same way you apply for "offline" work. Once you apply for a position by sending a cover letter, the employer takes a look at your letter and profile. If he/she likes your qualifications, then the employer will interview you, usually through skype or any other way of chatting/communicating. Some are not so strict and they can just hire you straight up if they see you can do the job. Once you're hired, this means there will be a contract in place and the rate you bid on will be applied to you either on hourly or fixed rate.
Mturk is different since they usually give you short tasks which require very minimal effort in a short period of time. The work in odesk is like being employed in an office, or something that is somewhat similar. It really depends on the type of employment you are applying for. There are a lot of different tasks available like data entry, transcription, VA jobs, etc. You will be paid either hourly or on a fixed rate so you will be expected to render some hours once you are hired. For fixed rate, you don't have to have hours recorded, just make sure to submit the output needed by the employer.
It can be quite overwhelming for a newbie to apply for jobs on odesk but once you are already in and you've started gaining a lot of work history and good feedback on your profile, you can command a higher rate per hour. I started there with only $2.50 per hour. Now, I've upped my rate to $5.00 per hour. I just started getting active on odesk last July 2010. So you see the swift upward movement of my rate?
Good luck and I hope this encourages you to try odesk for your online employment.

If you get the right opportunities and work hard, I'm certain it could be possible. It might take a bit of time to figure out how exactly to reach that point. Mostly because what works for one person might not really work for another person. Still I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully you make the most out of your experiences online and happy earning.

If u only hope then forget it. You got work hard, if u don't wanna try some investment in sites which offers to provide opportunity to earn money. Money making may be possible if u have a large time to spent( I knw the sites say u don't need time). This is my personal experience. If u got the 'tricks' or some talent in this field then u surely gonna earn the amount u wish.

I should think that is possible, provided you have the right ways for that. I do know there are many different ways of making some earnings online, some just a few cents a day, and some dollars a day. I have also seen some people who set up websites of their own and do businesses online. If successful, that can be a good way to make money.
